I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The management that I worked with where excellent in terms of employee experience which in turn makes a better customer experience. They provided reasonable accommodation for my disability and treated me very fairly. The pay is better than what you would expect for an entry level sales position.

    Cons

The sales training and tools are lackluster to say the least. If I didn't have sales training prior to this I would have struggled to pick up the necessary skills.

    Advice to Management

Your supervisors and team leads need to have the sales skills required to coach their teams.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great retail environment to work in. The company provides great benefits for anyone that takes the time to seek them out including health benefits, stock purchase plans, 401K, vacation for full time employees, and tuition reimbursement to name a few. Each store can provide a different experience based on the leadership team but for the most part you'll find yourself in a great work environment. The company as a whole is dedicated to improving the business and addressing areas of opportunity to ensure long term success.

    Cons

No major cons, it's a big box retail company that is still able to present a good overall employee experience at any level. Internal promotions generally do not garner the same salary as someone that is coming from the outside which can be frustrating for someone looking to grow long term with the company. Holidays don't exist anymore working here either. They stay open for every major holiday except Easter and Christmas and expect everyone to be able to work on the other holidays.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on growing the business and staying competitive. Great job ensuring employees have the needed resources both for the job and at the personal level. Look at promoting internal candidates at a more competitive rate instead of "low balling" them, which is a known and sadly accepted practice with most leaders.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at Best Buy is like having a second family. The store I worked at was very supportive of each other and employees were not afraid or shy to help others.

    Cons

The corporate setup of this company is failing and they seem to be going about fixing it in the most ridiculous ways. It is also difficult to successfully climb the ranks within the company and true loyalty seems to count for very little.
