I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-flexible scheduling, fun environment, like minded co-workers, fairly competitive pay, overall a company that seems to care about its employees

    Cons

-unless you work in Ops or are a "full-time" employee, it's nearly impossible to get enough guaranteed hours to sustain yourself. It works well when you're in college and need to spend more time studying anyway, but during the summer or post graduation, you're kind of screwed

    Advice to Management

Expand labor budget for sales departments, or hire fewer part time workers

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Unbiased advice to customers
    Lots of experience with technology
Learn a lot about how businesses work

    Cons

Favoritism is the only way to move up.

    Advice to Management

Give those who deserve leadership positions a fair chance and not just give higher opportunities to those you are “cool” with.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Competitive salary, flexible scheduling, enjoyable teammates

    Cons

Tons of in store politics, district level management and above couldn't care less about what's best for the employees, they treat everyone like commission salespeople despite not paying commissions, top performing stores are punished with unattainable goals the next year, favoritism rampant, benefits have been sliced to the bone for full time employees

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for, relaxed environment, easy sales goals and great entry level pay. As far as retail jobs go this is on the best companies in the world, at least at my store management actually care about employees.

    Cons

Your bonus is based on the performance of the store not just you as an individual. So if you have a weak link it will bring down the entire store.

    Advice to Management

Top performers consistently get praise for making a sale while people who underperform get none. A lot of employees would blossom if they were given more encouragement.
