I worked at Best Buy (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get to stay up on new and current technology, the employee discount of course. It is also a treat when you have a customer who is genuinely curious about technology, or is a fan of technology

    Cons

Like at many big businesses, your experience is predicated on the management and supervisory te at your store. I have worked at a store (Athens ) where you literally looked forward to coming to work everyday and at a store (Southlake ) where the mgmt team itself wasn't on the same page and you and you feel like you are constantly caught in the middle of a power struggle

    Advice to Management

You have a great corporate culture on paper, find a way to instill at the store level that culture with the store mgmt and both customers and employees will love the company passionately

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are none! Too many kids running their stores!

    Cons

Low paying, high turnover because they don't treat employees well, very clickish ( if store management likes you then you can get ahead), NO SICK DAYS for part time employees, monthly bonus is a JOKE, HIGH PRESSURE TO MAKE SALES but no commission!

    Advice to Management

I laugh when I read some of the reviews on here from Best Buy corporate employees.....yeah I guess those working in the corporate office are happy when those of us who work in the stores are doing all the work, bringing in all the revenue like slaves. During a recent 4 day sales induction the instructor said that sales people are the most important people in the company, I laughed....imagine that, the most important people in the company yet the lowest paid and treated like slaves! Give your part time people vacation and sick days, we are human and deserve to be treated as such. Hire managers who are genuinely concerned with retaining quality employees, hiring from within and give promotions based on competence and not based on who they like. To corporate, store employees don't want the scraps off your table....my last bonus back in September was $57.91!!!!!......YOU WANT YOUR EMPLOYEES TO MEET HOURLY SALES GOALS BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO COMPENSATE THEM FOR DOING IT! Always want sales people to be certified for this and certified for that then when they get certified there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.....what is the use in getting certified if there will be no pay increase? More knowledge should mean more pay!
