I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Overall just phenomenal leadership and supervision. The people really made the place here at this position and it was great being able to get to know each customer. I had no problem with pay and supervision was very accommodating with my work schedule.

    Cons

Like every retail job you'll have experiences with not-so-great customers but luckily I had my co-workers to carry me through the event.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. Would still recommend having more bathroom stalls installed for each gender. Having one can be very painstaking at time.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best things about working at Best Buy included: good pay and bonus incentives, friendly coworkers and managers, flexible hours, discount on products, and helping others learn about technology.

    Cons

The main challenges of working at Best Buy are: forced to work most weekends and holidays, working nights, some coworkers and managers are less understanding and helpful than others, and dealing with the inevitable upset customer.

    Advice to Management

I thought my manager was awesome because he connected with us employees, was personable, and took care of our time off needs. Other managers were business oriented only and not very personable. Your experience comes down to the position and, subsequently, your manager.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, and great culture all around. They give you tons of training and a lot of opportunity to move up.

    Cons

Its retail, so you don't get weekends off and most holidays are mandatory. This includes all of November and all of December, so seeing your out-if-town family is out for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas.

    Advice to Management

Management has high expectations, but nothing outrageous. If you're not meeting expectations, then you're not trying. Advancing to management is not hard, as long as you're meeting expectations, are living the values, and just really love the company.

Great workers, friendly staff, fun environment

Hours were difficult to work with but it was fine

    Advice to Management

    Keep on Keepin on boys

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I learned the skills to speak to customers and develop relationships, which greatly improved my resume

    Cons

Time spent with the company apparently means nothing. I spent two and a half years working there during college, receiving the "maximum" pay raise during each of my annual reviews. When I quit, I found out the replacement they hired for me had no job experience, was still in high school, and was started at an hourly rate above what mine was when I left.

    Advice to Management

Everyone was great to work with, pay just felt a little short.

  6. "A company with a good executive leadership but bad store level leadership."

    Pros

Great co-workers, extensive training, Good executive leader ship.

    Cons

Pay is average. As a part timer I get more hours than I did as a full timer. Management will schedule you outside availability. High turn over leads to inexperienced/inept store level management.

    Advice to Management

Respect your peoples hours, definitely respect the hour of those who have full time jobs in addition to employment at best buy. Listen to your people, I've seen too many manager think they know best and end up driving sales into the ground because of it.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Manager's were very respectful. They help you if you are not doing well in something. Better pay than most retail places.

    Cons

Long wait if you want to advance to a better position. Not much turn around for higher up positions.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time

    Pros

Get a very generous discount on many products, very flexible schedule, opportunities to learn.

    Cons

Part time employees can get heavily reduced hours, many times can't even pay rent with what I am taking home

    Advice to Management

Stop your obsession with your personal bonuses and focus on the customers and employees.

    Pros

This company made for a great part time job. People in full time positions seemed to enjoy it as well.

    Cons

They have a policy that you must work on weekends which get a little annoying.

    Pros

If you have a sales mentality, it can be a fun environment in which you can find substantial growth and decent pay; as well as learning about the exciting technology industry.

    Cons

If you are not sales oriented, you will have a hard time selling product you don't always believe in. Retail hours, things of that nature.

    Advice to Management

    Stay Relevant.
