I worked at Best Buy part-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule, decent pay for a part time job

    Cons

Extremely boring, and you're required to fill out recommend sheets even if they say they're here to get an HDMI and leave right after finding the cheapest one. It's annoying and you can actually get fired for it

    Advice to Management

Do away with Rec sheets. They only hinder the customer experience. It makes them feel less engaged with the sales rep and more like they're another statistic for the store

I have been working at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

Good atmosphere, good people. Management depends entirely on location (had worked at various stores).

More sales than technology, so if you are looking for a technology more based job, you are better looking elsewhere.

    Discount is great.

    Cons

Sales heavy, non-commissioned based sales. Not a whole lot of room for improvement unless you are looking for leadership positions (which usually require working various years prior to applying/being accepted).

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They had an excellent employee discount and offered a flexible schedule.

    Cons

It is retail, so plan on working weekends and dealing with rude customers.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible shifts for students. Good discount. For the most part fun people to work with.

    Cons

Retail sales and dealing with customers. GM a micro manager

    Advice to Management

    Don't micro manager

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, flexible schedule, fun environment, good management, decent bonuses, good sales training, nice people. Awesome discount it's usually 5 percent above cost

    Cons

Seems like management tends to make empty promises sometimes. Need to invest more in current employees. Have to fight for raises (I was only earning 12 an hour despite being the top sales man in the territory they only offered me a .12 cent raise. I threatened to quit before I negotiated a decent raise)

    Advice to Management

    Value your hard workers

I worked at Best Buy (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You got a job and the customers and Co workers are friendly (most of the time). Nice to meet new people everyday.

    Cons

Your voice is never herd, your hours are cut for no reason, you have to reapply for a position that is open and they give that to other employees who are your superiors. No equal opportunity.

    Advice to Management

Try noticing the "little people" who work hard and not just their superiors because they have been thereally longer.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The direct co-workers were great to work with.

    Cons

Management. You couldn't get a decent raise because for performance scores they say that out of 5 you can never be scored above a 3. Even if you do work far above and beyond what your title and normal duties are management scales it down to a 3/5 maximum

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with respect. Recognize strengths that you can exploit in your employees to get better store management. Cut ties with store managers that just talk up their performance without having the raw key performance indicators to show they are being successful and leading their team to success.
