    Cons

Can't really spend time with family during holidays cause they require you to be at work non-stop.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are great. Hours are better than some other retailers. Management was active throughout the store at all times.

    Cons

No real cons. Ad set team at the time set ad on Sunday mornings before the store opened. Not sure if that is still the case. Good job.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in your people. They hold the real key as to the direction your company will go.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fast paced, strategic direction changes often. Great environment if you work for the right leader.

    Cons

Leaders make or break companies, little or no oversight on a senior leader is a recipe for disaster.

    Advice to Management

Execute the 360 feedback plans to Directors teams and up. You might be surprised what you find out.

    Pros

discount is really nice and you get to see some of the latest technology before it is out

    Cons

kind of a high school mentality. management plays favorites and there is a lot of drama and gossip.

    Advice to Management

hire more full timers. not all the part time seasonal people. that will lower your turn over and pay sales associates more to keep them longer.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere. Management is very understanding and upbeat. Variety of positions on and off the sales floor. Good chance of upward mobility if you want to go for it. Lots and lots and lots of resources for almost anything you'd want to learn, from job specifics to product knowledge to various sorts of audits and weekly reporting. Lots of perks for sales associates.

    Cons

Communication between corporate and retail is getting better, but still an issue. If you want the previously mentioned resources, you have to hunt for them on your own. Depending on your job, you may never have time to check your e-mail and miss out on crucial information. Very few perks for non-sales associates.

    Advice to Management

Keep a better open line of communication with your associates, not just them to you but also you to them. Especially for warehouse associates, who often feel ignored, out of the loop, and not valued.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Let's see some of the pros of this position.... The supervisor is nice when you first get in. They have A/C while you work. Travel (but I didn't stay long enough to experience it). Gas & mileage reimbursement (also didn't stay long enough to experience it).

    Cons

Definitely the worst job I've ever had. The overnight shift is not paid enough, and even with the non-set amount of hours, the overtime pay is still not adequate for the amount of work put in. There is no structured training, they just put you on the floor after doing about 2 hours of orientation. The current employees train you, but they are just as crappy at doing it as the managers & supervisors. They give the heavy load work & petty jobs to the new employees, while the bigger & older guys complain about how tired they are all night & day. This position does take a huge toll on the human body, mind, & soul. Closer to the end of the shift everyone is annoyed, exhausted & aggravated, which I hate to even deal with. No idea how others manage to do it for so long. I do however, understand how, & why their turnover rate is so high. You would think with this being an overnight shift, they would provide free coffee in the break room or even some type of energy drink; nope. We go in at about 9PM, when the store closes & don't leave until the work is done (9AM, 10AM). The benefits are just as standard as other full time jobs, & they hype up their 5% employee discount, which is of course, petty.

    Advice to Management

Speak with higher authority to increase your pay, because you aren't being paid enough, & speak to paying your employes more. Maybe then you'll be able to find employees to stay with you longer. Cut the long work shift hours out, there are better ways to effectively get this job done.
