I have been working at Best Buy full-time

    Pros

Overall the company does care for the employees. If you are willing to work hard management does take note of that and works great with you to work your way up in the company. They do motivate their employees very well. The company is great with letting the employee be themselves as long as they get the job done. They award those who do outstanding jobs and also give credit where credit is due.

    Cons

The only cons to the job is inconsistent hours but that's only due to retail. The management I work with due show some favoritism but that's only some specific management. There is Inconsistent work procedures following some standard work procedures.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company made a change before I started working there to pay and treat employees better. When I first started with the company I loved my job. After 6months they closed my original store. I was told I had to interview for a new job at other stores that were farther away. I eventually was able to find a job and got a decent raise.

Always got good hours as part time, and was promoted to full time quickly.

    Cons

New store is nasty and mean to each other, managers only care about numbers. Every store should run like a community store, much better employee and client experience.

    Advice to Management

Remember your employees are human too, don't threaten them with a coaching or write up every day over the little things. It will make them not want to work, especially when those things are not even part of SOP.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people at my particular store are great, it's really the only reason I've stayed on as long as I have. My immediate manager has always been accommodating to my class hours.

    Cons

While it's decent pay for retail, every year they'll add more and more to your job for marginal increases in pay. When I started, I was on at $11 an hour just for cashier work. That's gotten up to $12 after four years of raises, but they keep raising selling goals at a pace no one in my department can keep up with. They'll squeeze you more and more, and stretch your patience with understaffing and truly random hours.

    Advice to Management

When you have a budget shortfall, and you're not predicting the kind of sales increase your executives and shareholders want, don't just ratchet up expected sales numbers on line employees to make up the gap.
