I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the pros are working with cool technology, energetic people, the day goes by fast, meeting new people, etc. This is a decent job for college students, retirees that need something to do, or people who are otherwise desperate.

    Cons

Low pay, poor and inconsistent scheduling, excessive pressure to sell for a non-commission job, drug abuse among employees and managers. Half-hour lunch. Poor training.

    Advice to Management

Management seems pretty ok but a few people seem as if they're on drugs, probably speed. Ensure that people are properly trained on the register and know basic things about their departments. If you're going to do drugs before work, try to at least make it look like you're sober.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Co-workers, Discount, Schedule Management, Friends,

    Cons

Management, Pay, Drama, Sales Driven Atmosphere, Few opportunities to Advance, Understaffed

    Advice to Management

Hire the employees that work in your store that know the job. It seems that all you do is hire outside employees, pay them more than us, and have us train them. If you hired from within like you preach that you do, you would not be losing so many employees to other companies.

Also if you bust your butt by working hard, expect to receive no raise, as there is always something you are doing wrong. I have been working hard putting countless hours to advance; however, my self and other hard working co-workers are treated as expendable. If it weren't for the merch team I currently work on, our store would not be able to function and complete it's day to day task.

Management seems to forget that merchandising is the backbone to the store, and that as long as they treat us as expandable, our stores will never be able to fully reach its peak.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Discount, other 'benefits', "potential to move up within the company".....

    Cons

Being threatened by "management" for being white, being threatened for being white, and living in fear for being white...

    Advice to Management

Have a backbone, stand up to convicted felons, and stand up for employees who ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE TO THE WORKPLACE!!!! I get it, we're white, so we don't mean anything to you all!!! But if you would simply run the paperwork on us all, you would see how WE are you're key to A REAL FUTURE!!!

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great healthcare benefits and vendor accommodations.

    Cons

The "quiet downsizing" of 2013 only caused unreasonable workloads for those who remained. And instead of eventually promoting the folks who remained, previously downsized folks are rehired into any new leadership roles.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the conference rooms and onto the salesfloors to better understand the unrealistic list of tasks delegated to some positions.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent employee discount. That's about it. Everything else about this company sucks. Literally everything else. Do not work here. Period.

    Cons

Absolutely everything. The software this company uses is outdated, slow, and inefficient, nobody, especially management has any idea what they're doing, the company will go so far out of their way to screw over their employees it is astonishing.

    Advice to Management

Get your heads out of your you-know-whats.
