I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay & bonuses in new stores
Interesting products and cutting edge technology
    Good employee discounts
Potential to bonus well if you are in the right situation/store & don't get screwed out of it right before it pays

    Cons

Cutthroat environment; lots of pettiness and backstabbing
"Do as I say, not as I do" environment
Lots of dirty pool and high school mentalities

    Advice to Management

Treat people with basic dignity and respect
    Examine your personal hypocrisies
Focus on the basics, not smoke and mirrors changes to placate stockholders

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I tried to find the Pros working here but i couldn't find any, except for the employee discounts, and even those weren't all that good.

    Cons

I thought that working here would be a blast, but it wasn't. Supervisors are totally selfish and arrogant. There was no help or training at all except for a few videos and online material. I worked there for the whole season and did at the most 20+ hours in total, they gave preference to friends and colleagues. I do not recommend working.

    Advice to Management

Make sure to train and place people who really know the job and are willing to help anyone and not just talk bad to employees.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Chance to work with law enforcement, entry into criminal justice/security.
If you're job is done right you get to work with local law enforcement on a daily basis and form deep connections and contacts. You get experience with security software. Overall, this is a good place for beginning a career into LE/security.

    Cons

Limited apprehension, lots of paperwork, high expectations.
Best Buy has been dialing back on what AP can do in form of apprehensions. Without going into detail (and possibly exposing security flaws), due to lawsuits and such, BBY has a very strict checklist of things that need to happen for a apprehension to be made. From AP standpoint, that hinders how your job can be done. Often times, management will ignore these checklists and make the stop themselves but will not allow AP to do said stops.

    Advice to Management

Allow AP to do their job- simply put, you need to give us the tools and abilities to stop theft and not just act as preventative guard dogs.

    Cons

-Management seems to always be unkind
    -Management doesn't care about you
-Management constantly promoted unskilled employees over long -time employees
    -Management plays favorites

    Advice to Management

-To actually care about their employees
-To not promote your favorite associate over an associate that you know is more than qualified
-To be honest when hiring someone about all of the details for their job

    Advice to Management
