I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They send you to training to help you become knowledgeable about the product. Had Intel, Samsung, Apple reps all help grow your knowledge on their brand.

    Cons

Performance-based scheduling so if you did not do good or sell their insurance your hours would be cut. Very competitive environment.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great environment to work in - employees are laid back and emphasize having fun while working. Employee discount is great.

    Cons

Being pushed to meet sales goals that are sometimes unrealistic. Did not like being pressured to sell warranties and credit cards that customers did not need.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Helped pay for my education and provided healthcare. Great for high school and college students. Great team/family culture.

    Cons

Considering that it is a premium retail big box store, with very high end products and a lot of training involved, it is hard to make a full time career after a certain point. The pay (for full time, let alone a specialty) does not match the amount of work that can be involved.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best reason to work at Best Buy is helping customers enhance their lives through the latest technology.

    Cons

If you are not under the right management, you may feel like you are stuck in your position.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and they will take care of your company. Treat them like I do not matter and what they think doesn't affect your business and you will be proven wrong. I have seen first-hand how a general manager can turn the atmosphere of an entire District around. To drive Improvement and to decrease turnover rate. I'm talking over 30 internal promotions in less than 2 years, and one of the best work families I've ever been a part of.
