I worked at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Showed videos and trained you well prior to selling
    - Discount is 5% above wholesale pricing
    - geek squad protection is dirt cheap
    - Easy to move around positions in the store

    Cons

    - The management title went to some of my managers heads (got to bossy)
    - I was top salesmen of the month and they gave me a 10$ gift card for selling $80k worth of goods

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

HR support, bonuses, performance management, prescription drug discount, vision discount, employee discount, pet insurance, commuter benefits, savings on auto and home insurance

    Cons

Working with people who are easily agitated if they don’t know what you’re talking about, working with management who sometimes doesn’t understand that bothering customers too many times causes them to get upset and leave

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to listen more to your lower employees.

    Pros

Employee discount was good. Flexible work schedule to work around school. Decent benefits, including tuition assistance. Working on cars was much more fulfilling than sales.

    Cons

Some managers were good. Some were awful. Work experience almost entirely depended on which type of management you had to work under.

    Advice to Management

Train your managers better and more consistently

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours and reasonable pay. Some drama and normal customer service issues to deal with daily like in any retail setting. It's a good fit for any college or high school student looking to make some money. Seemed to also have room for growth, many of the managers were promoted to that position from a regular associate.

    Cons

You work on a shift rotation and often have to work late and weekends (but thats normal for retail) They are very concerned about your dedication to selling the extras but there are no incentives to do this.
