    Great leadership

    Advice to Management

Hold the highest expectations around behaviors. Recognize and promote good behavior while constructively coaching poor behavior. Encourage, motivate, develop your employeee. When you're the SFL. Engage, stack and then deploy associates. Don't just send them each and every direction as you do a "fly by"

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In the right store and right situation it can be a fun work environment.

    Cons

There's a lot of internal politics that lead to people getting passed by when they deserve promotions, while people that don't deserve them continue to move through the company with no real skill.

    Advice to Management

Don't base an employees salary on their peers but on their ACTUAL worth.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people. Most of the people seem to genuinely care about employees and customers. It really is a friendly and fun environment most of the time. The culture has definitely shifted for the better. It is starting to show with our growing profits.

    Cons

I don't blame Best Buy, but the retail schedule is terrible when you want to start a family. It's impossible to get days off (especially weekends), and the holidays are miserable. Work life balance is the #1 drainer on this company. Managers also feel pretty overworked most of the time. 1 more salaried manager, and maybe another hourly supervisor would probably help with both the time off problem, and the stress levels of the leadership teams at each store.

    Advice to Management

    More flexibility with scheduling.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, great in-store benefits, headed in the right direction. Many places to work and has a lot to offer for future endeavora

    Cons

Difficult to move up unless willing to travel. Not a lot of training options to move in to upper management.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate expectations on store by store basis, some goals are seemingly unreachable while others are too easy

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay, good benefits, flexible hours. The leadership team supports each other. They mostly promote from within and there is opportunity to move up quickly

    Cons

A lot of turnover and people being displaced. You can move up quick but you may be moved out just as quick.
