I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome work environment, fun interactive workplace, very social daily routine, interesting conversations, and overall cool tech that we get to play with leads into an amazing work experience. I have loved working for Best Buy. I plan to peruse a career in the company.

    Cons

Not too many cons. Revenue goals can sometimes cause small stress or competition, but we don't get paid commission so it wont affect our paycheck. It is still retail, so holidays are crazy, but still fun.

    Advice to Management

Jesus, Kody, Marshall, Cameron, just everyone at my home 1146, keep doing what you're doing. I love you guys.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best retail place to work at. If you like the environment of retail there is no better place to work at. Best Buy has a lot of opportunities for growth if your interested or if you're trying to finish school then they are very flexible with hours.

    Cons

You're pretty much working all big holidays. Of course, that is expected because a lot of the business retail companies get are during those times. Best Buy makes it a fun environment to work during holidays.

    Advice to Management

Make your store fun to work at. If it is a fun environment then your employees have an environment to be the best.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Discounts
    Get to see new products.

    Cons

Those who they choose for management.
    Poor life work balance.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let talented people lead Best Buy. If you want Best Buy to thrive instead of just stay afloat you will leave.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

BestBuy offers amazing training if you're willing to take advantage of it. People skills are a must.

    Cons

Holiday hours can be a little stressful, but worth the overtime.

    Advice to Management

I'd suggest allowing and pushing for more hours spent on training by all associates.

    Pros

Best Buy had a great discount, decent health benefits, 401k match up to 5%, and a lot of great leaders and employees.

    Cons

Best Buy was pretty high levels of stress. I was in a high performing store however it gets exhausting to manage the amount of metrics they throw at you for every category imaginable. If felt though if you succeeded at one, district/corporate management wouldn't even stop to say thanks before they than switched focus to another category you could do better in.

    Advice to Management

Simplify your reporting. I'll never forget the time as a mobile manager when I found out that upper management had reporting to show if I was utilizing reporting. Seriously? I would much rather you come in and talk to me, coach me, inspire me, than sit behind a desk and send me an email telling me I need to view a particular report more often.

    Advice to Management

roll out a personalized STI bonus.

    Pros

Learning about technology through path to excellence, Intel retail edge, hp university, we university etc. Friends that you work with and help each other with goal sets.

    Cons

Black Fridays hours, hours are not consistent and they want you to keep gold status on path to excellence in your current position but if you want to move they want you to work that area and be silver certified and keep the gold status in current position. Very favorite oriented if your not in the circle you don't move up. Plus wage is to low for what they expect on the floor.

    Advice to Management

Be more a neutral person friends are great but not always the best candidate for the promotion given. Keep the drive on the training that is a great path to success. If someone comes and says they are needing more hours due to they can't make bills don't let it go unheard.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love the management and the way they treat their employees. Managers are on the floor selling as much as anyone, and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty.

    Cons

Overworked for part time during the holidays, sometimes management doesn't acknowledge hard work.

    Pros

Fun duties such as handled money and deposits, mostly work alone, hiring and training new employees, work closely with management.

    Cons

Pay caps and raises weren't generous and issued by a computer, not necessarily merit, duties will vary from store to store.

    Advice to Management

Store management is good, corporate management was obviously trying to cut costs and hours were cut severely. You need happy employees to be successful.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at best buy during college was nice because they were flexible with my schedule and It was a fun work environment great discount

    Cons

Expected us to follow a certain formula for sales and would write us up if we didn't. I understand it is a business but it made me feel like a robot and felt unnatural having to follow each step one by one to sell products.

    Advice to Management

Do not rely on favoritism when choosing promotions and try to not get mad at people for not meeting goals rather they should help them.
