I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Among the highest pay for retail work in the area. They will give you more hours if requested.

    Cons

If you work part time, expect to be scheduled just enough to not hit full time. You will not be trained, yet you'll be expected to keep up certain sales quotas. If your coworkers aren't nice enough to help you out, you'll really be without a paddle. Management will give you attitude for the littlest things when they could be giving constructive criticism and advice. If you don't mind coming home pissed off every day, then you'll be ok at this job.

    Advice to Management

To start, the GM at our store was great but other management-level employees were not so great. Actually training your employees goes a long way. Don't expect new hires to know what to do if you haven't trained them. If you can't tell, I am astounded by the lack of training given to your employees. A friend of mine practically had to beg to get training. Also don't expect your employees to do physically impossible multitasking. One employee cannot man two departments alone, work the front register, stock and label everything, as well as help customers find what they're looking for, all at the same time. I was expected to do this day after day, and yet management still rolled their eyes as if I wasn't doing well enough. I worked the front register for 15 minutes (as requested by management) and then management complained that I hadn't been in my department for hours... Very mature.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are worth it. Very flexible schedule, which you can get an app to put right onto your phones calendar. Discounts are good. coworkers are nice (depending on the store probably as well, though)

    Cons

Sometimes poor supervisors or management, pay since there is no commission. Coworkers not knowing products and having knowledge of their department.

    Advice to Management

Don't just hire people that can sell, but also have knowledge of the department products or willing to learn about the.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount, stock options, and colleagues. Pros really vary on store management.

    Cons

Unorganized and biased management and lots of favoritism. Employees are held accountable for their actions, unless if a manager makes a mistake the blame is spread across the board.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, Ok boss, Solid discounts. Overall a good place to work but not a long term thing for me.

    Cons

They treat you like your brain dead there, also once people find out you work for them you get the angry customer. Everyone knows someone that had a bad experience.

    Advice to Management

Nothing they can really do to improve. They did a good job, people just suck sometimes.

    Pros

The retail discount is the only plus!

    Cons

Unclear promotion track. Management is often too young thus inexperienced. I noticed a lot of favoritism and unjustified promotions.

    Advice to Management

Try to retain and promote talent.
