I worked at Best Buy part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Coworkers made the job pleasant, leadership was willing to work with associates in advancing. There were also video games in the break room

    Cons

Oftentimes communication was lacking, so you'd have 3 different managers or supervisors telling you to do a task, and you're expected to complete them all

I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

-Employee discount -Benefits (401k match, tuition reimbursement, misc. discounts, etc.) -Work/life balance in sales/inventory is good, no work to bring home with you. It gets hectic and hours are long over the holidays, but there is plenty of good money to be made during that time.

    Cons

-Performance metrics are prioritized above all else. -Staff seemingly hired based on availability over skills and experience. Makes more work for more experienced employees. Bad seasonals were kept despite proof of their poor performance just because they had open availability. -New hires often paid more than those who have been with the company longer. Don't expect a raise outside of what you get annually. Good performance...

    Advice to Management

-Hiring practices should be scrutinized, availability should not be the end-all qualification for the job. -Good performers should be rewarded, not scoffed at when asking for a raise. This may sound surprising, but paying good performers competitively will undoubtedly motivate their continued performance. -Tasks need to be clearly allocated and accountability needs to be enforced, too often are people told to do one...

I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The culture is awesome! Great place to learn and teach... love Bestbuy!!

    Cons

There are some big egos still, maybe folks that wish they took another career path. Reflects a lot people that live tech, and really enjoy being there.

    Advice to Management

Enjoy what you do, if not, move along... if your mad or stressed, don’t reflect this on people that enjoy working for Bestbuy. Bestbuy is an awesome culture for young people and old. We learn, thrive and grow... wonderful experience. Be excited for all the new hires. Re-love what we love.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Really the discount that is about it

      Cons

favoritism in management, seniority is pretty much everything

      Advice to Management

stop with the favoritism it is ridiculous how someone who had 8 months experience in computer department trying to go full time in computers was passed over for a full time camera associate who knew nothing about pcs nor had any experience selling them. Might just be the store I'm at Im currently trying to transfer to another store.

I worked at Best Buy full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Learned a lot of useful knowledge about all home electronics that are still current. +++ OFTEN PROMOTE WITHIN Pay was just okay then great! Matched trying to keep me at the store. --- worked in C.A., started at $11.75 at part time, within a year full time Leader at $14.50

      Cons

Schedules are created two weeks in advance, with limited requests off accepted. They will accommodate to school & military life, nothing else. Micromanaged constantly. Sales are the biggest factor, customer service close second. If you don't make the sales, it doesn't matter your customer service score (nps). Busy work if nothing else to do. -----one of those type jobs where if you don't have a customer they expect...

      Advice to Management

Two things: 1) Stay off your phones (MANAGERS) unless in break area. It was ridiculous the amount of times to ask an employee to put away their phone to look up & see two other managers standing there on their phones. 2) If there is a busy day then it slows down for a bit, I learned it was best to give walkies to two associates & send them on a break. After 10, radio them back & let the other two take a break. I found...
