I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really the discount that is about it

    Cons

favoritism in management, seniority is pretty much everything

    Advice to Management

stop with the favoritism it is ridiculous how someone who had 8 months experience in computer department trying to go full time in computers was passed over for a full time camera associate who knew nothing about pcs nor had any experience selling them. Might just be the store I'm at Im currently trying to transfer to another store.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee Discount, Don't have to wear a blue shirt, pay grade is higher then the rest of Best Buy sales people

    Cons

Micromanaging, customer issues that deals with appliance delivery and installation, dealing with people attitudes because something didn't go their way, bartering prices

    Advice to Management

    Less micromanaging and more freedom

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learned a lot of useful knowledge about all home electronics that are still current.
    +++ OFTEN PROMOTE WITHIN
Pay was just okay then great! Matched trying to keep me at the store.
--- worked in C.A., started at $11.75 at part time, within a year full time Leader at $14.50

    Cons

Schedules are created two weeks in advance, with limited requests off accepted. They will accommodate to school & military life, nothing else.
    Micromanaged constantly.
Sales are the biggest factor, customer service close second. If you don't make the sales, it doesn't matter your customer service score (nps).
Busy work if nothing else to do.
-----one of those type jobs where if you don't have a customer they expect you to have a rag & wipe down every single TV

    Advice to Management

    Two things:
    1) Stay off your phones (MANAGERS) unless in break area. It was ridiculous the amount of times to ask an employee to put away their phone to look up & see two other managers standing there on their phones.

    2) If there is a busy day then it slows down for a bit, I learned it was best to give walkies to two associates & send them on a break. After 10, radio them back & let the other two take a break. I found it boosts their motivation much better than handing them a rag to "keep active & stay busy."

I worked at Best Buy (Less than a year)

    Pros

A real friendly atmosphere where everyone gets along. The pay is decent enough to pay small bills, refueling your car, and some books. The work experience you get is very good too because of the large amount of traffic that comes in through the doors. The benefits are on point!

    Cons

Dealing with some of the customers can be pretty tough especially if they have been having a bad day

    Advice to Management

Great job. I didn't have any problems with management

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The coworkers are amazing. They're always willing to help no matter what the situation is. The perks that comes with being a Best Buy employee would be the discounts and the services that you can call.

    Cons

Not flexible with timing. As any retail store, you get the retail experience, both good and bad. Management can be horrible and depending on who you know, that's what carries more weight in your placement here.

    Advice to Management

You would want to mentor your workers better. Treat them as people and lead them, not give orders and looks. There are team leads who fill that void, but do not micromanage them or the people under.
