I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best retail place to work at. If you like the environment of retail there is no better place to work at. Best Buy has a lot of opportunities for growth if your interested or if you're trying to finish school then they are very flexible with hours.

    Cons

You're pretty much working all big holidays. Of course, that is expected because a lot of the business retail companies get are during those times. Best Buy makes it a fun environment to work during holidays.

    Advice to Management

Make your store fun to work at. If it is a fun environment then your employees have an environment to be the best.

    Cons

Holiday hours can be a little stressful, but worth the overtime.

    Advice to Management

I'd suggest allowing and pushing for more hours spent on training by all associates.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with were really great. Everyone is willing to help out wherever they can. It's amazing that our main goal is to focus on the customer and satisfying them with a product that best fits their needs. They employee discount is amazing.

    Cons

The training is all online which can sometimes be a drag. Getting yelled at by customers when issues arise.

    Pros

Good discount, decent pay for high school students, co workers are awesome.

    Cons

Most of store management were puppets for District/ corporate, Sales Excellence program is too cookie-cutter.

    Advice to Management

Give more recognition to employees, If a sales tactic is working for an employee, don't change it.

    Pros

Employee Discount is best around and has yet to be beat. Good beginner's experience in a sales environment. Fellow employees are respectful and easy to get along with.

    Cons

Most levels of management lack any real education after high school. This leads to uneducated decision making and a lack of direction. This goes for management on the district level as well.

    Advice to Management

Show some tact around both employees and customers. The most irritating trait most managers share is the low they are willing to sink to in order to up their numbers in order to bonus.
