I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved working at Best Buy. It was my first job at 16 and I worked there for 4 years, jumping around to a few different positions. I loved the relationships I formed while working here.

    Cons

Pay is a bit low. I only made about $.50 more in my 4th year at BBY than I did when I first got hired.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee discount is great, there is opportunity to learn about all types of technology, and flexible hours are offered.

    Cons

There are ridiculous sales goals that are usually expected during slow times in the year, pay is completely stagnant and very rarely do you get bonuses, and there is a ridiculous focus on credit cards.

    Advice to Management

When giving raises, focus on a few things other than just sales.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Alright pay
    Most coworkers are very friendly
    Good discounts
Pretty easy work when there's a large enough staff to finish trucks

    Cons

You'll most likely work 2-3 hours past your scheduled shift
Not enough employees hired in the department to deal with unloading trucks
Pay is mediocre for the length of shifts and amount of work you do
It feels as if the inventory employees are looked down upon in the store

    Advice to Management

Higher pay and hire more employees

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice management, discounts, and flexible hours. I was in school at the time so flexible hours were a must and they were understanding

    Cons

No room for growth and limited room for raises. I decided quickly that staying at the job was not for me but I still did enjoy my time there

    Advice to Management

More team building would have been nice

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great discount. I've met so many amazing people over the last eight years working there, nothing can change the friends that I've made and even met my current partner there. Very flexible with hours, ability to work overtime during the holidays/busy times. You get occasional bonuses based off of department performance. Employee accommodations from multiple brands (other discounts).

    Cons

Having to work almost all holidays (only get off Easter and Christmas). raises are only annual and go by performance. every department has a salary cap so even if you get a great review you may already reach pay cap. it's hard to move up unless you suck up to current management. Hours are cut during slower seasons. Hard to get a Full-Time spot.

    Advice to Management

Schedule better during busy times, listen to what your employees have to say and always be on their side and not the customer.
