I have been working at Best Buy as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Seattle office where most of the mobile developers are located has a lot of autonomy and is very developer friendly. The product managers and developers work well together and the expectations are reasonable.
The people are fun, kind, and smart. Every person will drop what they're doing to help and its embedded in the culture. They invest in new employees because they fully intend to bring them in long term. I can't remember the last time somebody left for another job.

    Cons

Can be too enterprisey usually in small ways such as unnecessarily strict Wi-Fi settings, the bureaucracy of a strong organization structure, and features coming down from above.

    Advice to Management

You have a good thing going and it shows in the quality of the product, loosen up a little.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture has always been a differentiator for Best Buy. People love to work here, and we are encouraged to find more ways to empower our associates and improve the employee experience.

I've always felt the pay was competitive. Anyone who complains about pay probably isn't comparing it to a similar job. Additionally, Best Buy rewards movement over mastery, so your raises are much more substantial from promotions rather than just being great at your job.

    Cons

Nobody leaves a bad company, they leave a bad boss. Once you have a GM who doesn't like you, it becomes very hard to promote or transfer stores because they will sandbag you when someone calls for their input. We focus so much on promoting from within that we will ask other's input and way they more than the merits of the candidate.

    Advice to Management

We know you "don't play favorites." But of course you do. Just be better at pretending you don't have a favorite.

    Pros

Great people and a unique environment. Very diverse, and inclusive.

    Cons

Customers with a limited understanding of technology can make life difficult, but have patience.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Coworkers, Good amount of breaks. Tattoos allowed on the workers. managers were chill. Enjoyed the environment overall.

    Cons

Didn't really like working cashier. The hours weren't the best. They made me work when I had pink eye. It was black Friday.. they let me off at some point, was still dreadful. Working customer service sucked if someone called out.

    Advice to Management

Stay chill, thank you for the happy environment. Thanks to the company for that discount.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company is supportive and encourages thought on the job and growth as a person and a profession. 401k, benefits, PTO, sick leave, and good hours.

    Cons

Motivational style of some managers can be harsh.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nothing to do besides help customer, the bonuses when made can be nice, the companies policies and how they take care of their associates is really good for the most part. The company gives you a solid appeal to come work for them

    Cons

Though we are not a compensation company we are still held to high sales standards. At my store management very much is the type where you are never good enough. Unless, of course, your making mazaradi sales and pitching for spending the most. There is pleanty of double standards and favoritism. If your a busy body or not a sales person I highly recommend to avoid this company or stay with operations. The hours are also horrible.

    Advice to Management

I know we are to make sales but maybe not treat your employees like garbage when they arent preforming to the max and above. Plus what is so wrong with set schedules? It would really help the whole work life balance.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, co-workers who are into the same hobbies as I was

    Cons

A ton of pressure to sell Best Buy-branded credit cards, Games Club Unlocked memberships, and warranty plans - and usually all at once in the same transaction. Management will walk around and breathe down your neck about them and give you quizes about perks of each program on the spot. It is very offputting.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of room to grow and advancement within the company!

    Cons

Low pay and managers take to long to deal with bad employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen too your employees when it comes to their co workers.

    Pros

Decent work environment, awesome discount, decent benefits for full-time employees, great company for a career if you can get through the politics.

    Cons

Politics ruin everything. Mandatory overnight shifts every so often for product inventory, traces of favoritism are clear.
