I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company is supportive and encourages thought on the job and growth as a person and a profession. 401k, benefits, PTO, sick leave, and good hours.

    Cons

Motivational style of some managers can be harsh.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Coworkers, Good amount of breaks. Tattoos allowed on the workers. managers were chill. Enjoyed the environment overall.

    Cons

Didn't really like working cashier. The hours weren't the best. They made me work when I had pink eye. It was black Friday.. they let me off at some point, was still dreadful. Working customer service sucked if someone called out.

    Advice to Management

Stay chill, thank you for the happy environment. Thanks to the company for that discount.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nothing to do besides help customer, the bonuses when made can be nice, the companies policies and how they take care of their associates is really good for the most part. The company gives you a solid appeal to come work for them

    Cons

Though we are not a compensation company we are still held to high sales standards. At my store management very much is the type where you are never good enough. Unless, of course, your making mazaradi sales and pitching for spending the most. There is pleanty of double standards and favoritism. If your a busy body or not a sales person I highly recommend to avoid this company or stay with operations. The hours are also horrible.

    Advice to Management

I know we are to make sales but maybe not treat your employees like garbage when they arent preforming to the max and above. Plus what is so wrong with set schedules? It would really help the whole work life balance.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, co-workers who are into the same hobbies as I was

    Cons

A ton of pressure to sell Best Buy-branded credit cards, Games Club Unlocked memberships, and warranty plans - and usually all at once in the same transaction. Management will walk around and breathe down your neck about them and give you quizes about perks of each program on the spot. It is very offputting.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of room to grow and advancement within the company!

    Cons

Low pay and managers take to long to deal with bad employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen too your employees when it comes to their co workers.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent work environment, awesome discount, decent benefits for full-time employees, great company for a career if you can get through the politics.

    Cons

Politics ruin everything. Mandatory overnight shifts every so often for product inventory, traces of favoritism are clear.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discounts were really good on a lot of items.. Depending on your supervisor, they could work out a good schedule for you.

    Cons

Unless you are full time "which basically no one is" you only get between 5-20 hours a week... that's not enough to live on even with duel income.. You get barely above minimum wage if you are lucky.. I had over 10 years in retail and the kid hired a month after me was making $2 more an hour than me.... for his first job... Management does nothing when you call for them on the radio and will not have your back if a customer is being belligerent.

They also work out deals with friends and family, giving them huge discounts on items and not getting in trouble for it.. actually I take that back, the store manager got fired when he got caught at my store...

    Advice to Management

treat employees like people and think about better wages.. Also cut the fat and get rid of the management staff that basically does nothing all day.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the constant changing of technology and the need to learn about new products on a regular basis. Great incentives if you have a decent team. Hubert Joly has done tremendous things with the company. One of the best things I received was an all expenses paid trip to Puerto Rico for being one of the top sales people. It was hard work but well worth it for the trip.

    Cons

My pay did not reflect the amount of work I put into the job. A lot of younger people worked in my specific store, which typically led to unnecessary drama.

    Advice to Management

Treat the employee veterans better. Start by paying workers accordingly, the hardest worker shouldn't be paid less because of sexuality. They should also be compensated when new employees start off making more than someone who had worked there for years. Turn over might be better if you cared more for the hard working veteran employees.
