I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

For the most part, the people who work here are great. Atmosphere of having fun, while still getting stuff done.
They encourage people to move around within the company so that you can learn multiple business units.

    Cons

There have been so many leadership changes there isn't a clear picture of where the company is headed.
There were a lot of layoffs and SG&A cuts so it feels like there wasn't enough to go around and you had to band aid things together.

    Advice to Management

Be aware that you are alienating you r employee base by not giving them the resources they need to do thier jobs.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment, free parking, lots of exposure to technology, and large clean building. People are generally very nice. Great PTO, starting analysts get as much as 23 days PTO and work-life balance is very nice. No need to stay late or work weekends like Amazon or other work-to-the-bone environments

    Cons

Pay is not as competitive as other fortune 500 retailers. This lack of pay is the primary reason I heard of for people to want to leave.

    Advice to Management

Work environment and people are amazing but utilizing pay incentives quickly becomes necessary if you want to retain top talent.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not locked in to a 8-5 schedule. Just putting in face-time is not valued so as long as you're getting your work done, you can generally come and go as you please.

    Cons

Must be social and proactively network to avoid being part of the herd. Very difficult to get promoted if you don't do this.

    Pros

New Management is smarter and more fact based. New Management has new ideas. Employees are generally considerate and helpful to one another. Good team environment. Leadership is willing to listen to new ideas.

    Cons

Business environment is difficult to compete against online retailers. Due to SG&A cost savings, some benefits have been reduced along with position openings, so in some areas it is difficult to get promoted. Bonuses have been small or non-existent lately due to recent company performance.

    Advice to Management

New management should keep exploring all new ways to make money and transform the company.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time

    Pros

Good experience to get your hands "dirty." Friendly and smart people in my group. Work life balance and ROWE is the best part.

    Cons

Overall, the company is crumbling... some seem to deny this, while others mock the company while only a few actually to improve our situation with the pieces we have. Too much cynicism running through the culture right now.

    Advice to Management

It's the 4th quarter, 2 min left, and we're down by 3 touchdowns. Work your magic!!
