I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing pay for work being done. Great accommodations and amazing food brought sometimes for lunch. Great place to work seasonal or Black Friday

    Cons

It does not allow overtime, sometimes gets scheduled when asked off but all you have todo is say you requested it off and your good!

    Advice to Management

Allow overtime so we can make more money.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company, fantastic training, strong culture.

    Cons

Certain positions seem to attract lazy employees, sometimes encouraged to prioritize sales goals over customer service or other tasks, lack of hours with an overabundance of employees.

    Advice to Management

Carefully pay attention to sales leads to ensure employees are properly coached and supported.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy work, lots of cool coworkers. Pretty easy to hit sales goals, lots of great customers.

    Cons

Managers are a joke. They're laughable and pathetic. They like to listen in on conversations which is totally creepy. Back up off my junk and let me close this sale. Corporate approach to selling with customer portfolios is lame. Area supervisors act like this barely above minimum wage job is way more important than it really is.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees a decent wage.

    Pros

it not a high stress job, freedom to walk around store.

    Cons

Not that good of pay, about $9/hr. gets repetitive and boring after a while

    Advice to Management

    none

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Enjoy working with a great team who is passionate about technology. Also, the employee discount is very good! They are pretty good about adjusting your schedule or having a consistent schedule from week to week.

    Cons

Lacking of compensation and lack of moving up in the company. I believe the training could be a bit better, maybe pay for some key certifications.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great discount. Most coworkers are friendly and competent.

    Cons

Inconsistent breaks. Conflicting agendas in different departments. Very little training that is product-specific.

    Advice to Management

The pressure of the companies financial shortcomings should never be put on the sales team. We aren't dumb and some of us read the WSJ. We know retail sales and Best Buy in particular are in trouble. Help create a fun and positive work environment, not an environment of increasing pressure.

Teach us more about the products, not just Best Buy financing and Geek Squad.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent discounts on tech products (love this!) and some decent give aways from time to time, won a GPS and $200 headphones one time.

    Cons

I worked my ass off here, and got paid $9.41/hr. I also got asked to be a "holiday supervisor" without any pay increase or promise of full-time... seriously. Come on now. There was also a very big "good ole' boy" mentality with management. If you're in you're good, if you're not, well tough.

    Advice to Management

When you have an employee that's a good asset, in your case has the 2nd highest sales in the store and gives some of the best customer service that gets multiple compliments from more than one customer, it's best not to take advantage of them.

    Advice to Management

    Good luck keeping your job

    Pros

Discount is great but has recently been reduced. Fast paced work environment provides sales associates with opportunities for recognition. The general manager is very personable

    Cons

Management is very strict and creates biases against employees they dont like. HR is cut throat and if you make a mistake you will be fired

    Advice to Management

Promote more from within because bringing people in from other stores when the people in your own store have been waiting for promotions is very discouraging
