I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They are very flexible with your school schedule, and are willing to make accommodations for it. Everyone is extremely nice. They train you a little and then let you do your thing.
    Discounts are fun.

    Cons

Employees do all the work while managers just sit around and scratch their butts.
Always pushing you to sell warranty as if it was commission.
    Some managers are useless.
Hard to move up in the company.
If you want to move up you have to be best friends with the GM otherwise you wont ever move up. Its all a politics game and usually those of which speak the same language get promoted faster.

    Advice to Management

if you schedule a manager in the morning to open along side another associate, you should have a 3rd associate in since the manager wont ever sell or help when it gets busy.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generally fun experience, usually friendly with staff and cool things to play with, constantly learning new things and techniques. Good overall not to stressful usually.

    Cons

Management lurking over you constantly, job security not so good. Most staff scared they may be let go at any given time

    Advice to Management

Get some training on how to talk to employees and make sure they not only you but senior management also follow those rules. Also micro managing is not good for the well being of employees

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Team was great, very friendly atmosphere

    Cons

You have to stand for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week if you work full time. Management is always changing, not sure whether to different branches or otherwise.

    Advice to Management

I liked that the upper Management came to visit the store, however if we had one-on-one introductions that would be great too.
