I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Being at best buy let's you meet a lot of new people that will be willing to help you, they love what they do.

    Cons

Some people although will bit want to help you at all, some people don't even acknowledge your existence. You have to be on your feet a lot.

    Advice to Management

No advice really. Just keep doing what you're doing. Don't put a chokehold on your employees give them some leeway.

    Pros

You work with people your age, the managers are nice, and you learn solid sales experience.

    Cons

No commission, you're under constant pressure from upper management to up-sell and create your basket, black tie protections can be hard to sell to people.

    Advice to Management

Offer incentives for your sales people to perform. A high five just isn't good enough when every other store is working on commission.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady and easy job, opportunity to work with customers, meet friendly co-workers your age

    Cons

Management sucks and dictates how your department is run, regardless of overall consensus

    Advice to Management

Get off your high horse. Not everyone wants to buy the protection plans. Plus, most of you look like virgins. Stop wearing high waters and learn how to communicate with your customers.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Had great managers that were nice but pushed sales, my co-workers were cool which made going to work easier, management allowed me to work areas that interested me

    Cons

Managers pushed sales a great deal, you need to be extremely extroverted to be a good retail employee, the pay isn't good considering how many different areas I had to go into

    Advice to Management

Managers at my store were great, maybe a little more flexible on hours

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of the best thing working in Best Buy is that they would keep you learning. Every month we are paid to study the new technology so we are ready for our customer.

    Cons

One of the thing is not that great is that we often have bi-week meeting as early as 7 am.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Upbeat environment, Lots of training available, many growth opportunities, working with many different people. Customers are usually happy because they're shopping for fun stuff. I loved working at Best Buy for many years.

    Cons

Very high manager turnover which makes it difficult to please them, poor raises, depending on which store you work for a bad 'GM' can break everyone spirit. Not enough employees to get all the work done in alloted time.

    Advice to Management

Act like you care about your employee's.
Take the time to know employees as people and they will work harder for you.
