I have been working at Best Buy full-time

    Pros

New leadership has an intelligent vision to move company forward. Best Buy places a tremendous trust in front line leadership, at least on the supply chain side. Haven't seen any micromanaging so far. Embraces diversity and takes care of employees pretty well for any industry, let alone retail.

    Cons

I'd say the cons are more industry related than anything specific to Best Buy. Amazon has killed margins for everyone and shrinking margins mean shrinking profits and everything else bad that goes along with it. BBY is doing it's best to compensate its employees as well as it can in a space that really isn't very friendly to that behavior.

    Advice to Management

I would say continue to promote distribution channels, i.e. delivery from store and home delivery and get Pac Sales in as many markets as will support the concept. High end appliances have high margins and high margins mean better compensation.

    Pros

Highly visible company. Company is making the right choices to turn themselves around. Employee discount is nice.

    Cons

The hours worked are pretty bad. As a Supervisor, you could work any where from 8 to 13 hours on an off- peak schedule. Employees are higher tenured and do not adapt to change well at all.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company offers great hours and a flexible schedule. The people are nice and easy to work with. Most customers are a pleasure as well.

    Cons

I can't really think of many cons. Of course working in customer service you deal with interesting people. There were some shady people that worked there and would steal stuff. No bueno!

    Advice to Management

Great company to work for while in school!

    Pros

High focus on employee development. Peer group is engaged and great to work with. A great place to develop and institute new ideas for process improvement, employee recognition, and other business ideas.

    Cons

Management can be out of touch sometimes. High turnover in leadership causes supervisors to bear a heavier workload.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time engaging employees and supervisors, don't ignore the work/life balance of supervisors.
