I have been working at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of room for growth. You can really learn more about management of the store if you have inviting management.

    Cons

If your team isn't on point this can be a stressful position. You are still responsible for your personal sales performance and your team's performance. Very demanding on your personal life.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee discount on certain items and services is great. That, unfortunately, is the most one should expect out of employment with Best Buy (or any other retail company).

    Cons

Pay isn't great. Hours aren't great. Benefits aren't great. In retail it seems that the only real monetary and benefits gains come if you're willing to make the personal sacrifices necessary to make it to upper management.

    Advice to Management

I have no advice for management.. Frankly, management doesn't have much of a say in what goes on, so I'm uncertain what any advice could actually accomplish.

I worked at Best Buy (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work roles at small companies are often less specialized than at larger firms allowing employees to wear more hats, interact with staff in more functional areas in these smaller work environments and get a better big picture view of operations.

    Cons

    Low salary
less opportunity for growth and promotion
     less job stability

    Advice to Management

    Better help with new interns
Set clear standards for your team. Your staff members need to know not only what you expect them to do, but how you expect them to approach their work

    Pay line levels more

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount is good. You save a lot on buying cables and chargers. And you can try new technology every day.

    Cons

If you are working for Best Buy or considering it in the future, I strongly recommend you think twice! Discrimination and Favoritism are top 2 competencies that senior managers demonstrate. If you want to get promoted, no matter what you do and how hard you work, unless you have connections forget about it! I have worked for several Fortune 500 companies, but believe me, after just few months working for Best Buy I discovered that I have made the biggest mistake of my career life. Their employee satisfaction survey is a joke. They will find the reason to get rid of people who scored the store low to increase the rating for the future instead of fixing the problem. Or they just terminate the GM to blame some one vs. fixing the culture. In the eyes of Best Buy you are nothing more than a revenue generating machine who worth nothing beside the numbers !!!
    #discrimination , #theworstcompanytoworkfor , #Bestbuy

    Advice to Management

D.C. Metro area senior management team is horrible. Investigate dog and pony shows in District 91 when there is a visit and you will find the truth !!!

    Pros

Best Buy is a great place to work, while having fun and assisting customers throughout their shopping experience. The salary for supervisor positions and up are pretty competitive compared to other retail stores.

    Cons

The focus on product training required by employees can improve to aid in the overall shopping experience for the customers.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on emphasizing training employees on how to enhance the sales experience and product knowledge.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

New technology all in one place! Constantly learning new things. Partnership with vendors are great. Discounts and accommodations are amazing!!

    Cons

Senior Management (not in store) see's your store as a number and doesn't take "store reality" into account when trying to push for stores to hit a certain metric. What works for one store, may not be the best way for the next.

    Advice to Management

Realize that people are the best ingredient for a successful store. Understand this simple concept, and people will run through a wall for you.

I have been working at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Easy interviews
-Decent pay for being my first non army job
    -I loved my coworkers
-I was pretty happy with the amount of PTO and sick time i got.

    Cons

-Too much focus on numbers. (I'm customer service now and they still have me focus on numbers)
-Not enough opportunity to rise in the company
    -Thanksgiving means nothing to bestbuy
    -Never have a regular schedule

    Advice to Management

Don't stress the numbers so much, it makes a difficult work environment. When i had no supervision my numbers were the highest they had ever been since i didnt have to force things that didnt make sense to customers and didnt have to use stupid papers (cant remeber the name of them) that customers didnt understand. Just let your employees be real with customers and focus on what the customer needs.

    Advice to Management

Continue tuition assistance and discounts on products to college students.
