I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management is very involved in helping employees move up. I can honestly say every manager I have worked for takes pride in seeing their employees move up to positions that they have prepared and worked hard for. Managers do everything in their power to help associates get to the next level. In my experience.

    Cons

The focus can be misguided sometimes. We are told to look at one thing and make sure it is done well then criticized when something else is put on the back burner. Not everything can be focused on at the same time.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus around customer experience and employee experience.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent work culture, great management, fun environment, competitive initial hire retail pay, VERY supportive environment. Overall, a really fun place to work compared to most places in retail.

    Cons

Difficult work-life balance, difficult to move up within the company (to a corporate level position) unless you want to spend years training to be an ASM or GM.

    Advice to Management

Please take more time in your hiring process. For specialty positions such as Geek Squad and BBYM please do NOT consider outside applicants unless they have extensive experience in another similar area, as these positions require more knowledge than the typically entry level position (thus the higher pay grade).
Other than that, keep it up! You're doing great!

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent pay
Plenty of OT during the holidays (If wanted)
    Great leadership exposure
Sundays are time and a half

    Cons

    Need to have open availability
    Poor work/life balance
Bi weekly pay (Hard to budget)
Its retail so being sick or needing a day off for a doctors appointment or to do something with your kids is like pulling teeth

    Advice to Management

Have more understanding for a non salary employee if they need time off.
Stop guilt tripping and belittling employees when you need something done.
Be professional and stop engaging in employee banter and or insults at the water cooler.
Corporate employees have absolutely no idea what goes on in a store, try promoting from within the company to further drive efficiency and revenue.
