I have been working at Bestbuy Mobile full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities to advance in Mobile
    Latest technology
Great new hire training in Mobile
    Health benefits
    401k match
    Stock Purchase Program

    Cons

You're either micromanaged and feel your manager breathing down your throat or your not managed at all and have no support. Pretty much your on your own besides your peers in other stores.

    Advice to Management

Best Buy Mobile General Managers need a better relationship with talent acquisition. The prescreening process and looking through the requisitions takes up lots of time that could be better utilized by the GM. The in person interview and final decision should still be left up to the GM in that situation just like it is currently.

I have been working at Bestbuy Mobile part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I really love my job, and I like the people I work with. The people and the best buy values. They worked with me on my schedule all the way through college. Also the discount is the bomb!

    Cons

The main challenge is that if you're working in a sas store, most likely there is only one full time position so little opportunity to move up unless you move to a different store. Also part timers don't receive any benefits and the pay isn't that great. Isn't the worst pay, but no where near the best either.

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I have been working at Bestbuy Mobile full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay for retail, non commission but good bonuses based on the store hitting goals, general managers will still work on the floor with the sales associates. Have training opportunities (some sales associates get to go to a hands in vender training to see and learn about new tech). If you work hard and make in known you want to move up in the company you will easily. At both of the stores I've worked at the managers give you some room to make your own decisions when it comes to taking care of a customer as well as listen to ideas I have to try and improve things. Also a plus- GREAT discount that you get after 30days on payroll.

    Cons

Depending on the store there can be staffing problems (not scheduling enough people) but only because that store doesn't have the budget to hire more people or give people more hours. If you're looking for year-round work apply right after the holiday season (if you apply in the fall you are likely to be a "seasonal" employee so they may not keep you after January). Also working on thanksgiving and longer hours during the holidays.

    Advice to Management

I understand setting high goals but sometimes it's just unreachable. Also WE NEED TO BE CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING. The company claims to be very FAMILY oriented with family values so that needs to come before making a few extra bucks for Black Friday. Also the Mobile system that is used is really slow and causes a lot of issues, and shell out some money for better registers/computers! Even though ours were just replaced they are still extremely slow and I cannot tell you how many customers joke about our computers being so slow and glitchy when all we sell is technology!

    Cons

I have been working at Bestbuy Mobile (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Used to work with some friends.

    Cons

It's retail. Micromanagement. Best Buy Mobile is severely underpaid as compared to the market. Full-time in Mobile will garner maybe $14 an hour tops, if your manager likes you..on a scale up to $16.29. Go to Verizon, AT&T or Sprint and you'll be making $60,000 a year easily, assuming that store is in a good location.
