I worked at Bethesda Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The C3s, Nursing Supervisors, HUB worker bees, Floor/Unit Directors/ANMs and the AVP were excellent: dedicated, conscientious, and always pleasant and professional . Medical Benefits were decent, and pay was ok.

    Cons

The management team (director/supervisor) of Care Coordination (a.k.a. C3 and hub management) were a nightmare. Stay far, far away from this management team. They're incompetent, rude, and abusive and shouldn't be in charge of people. They take delight in humiliating certain employees. There's a long list of their bad behavior and incompetence; and how they keep getting away with it is a mystery. The short list includes: not answering emails, showing obvious favorites, verbally abusing employees, accusing employees of wrong-doings without a shred of evidence and over-loading employees with work/tasks with unrealistic deadlines. Their incompetence becomes the employees' problem. I've witnessed verbal abuse and decisions made on how much they like the employee making the request. They'll "council" employees in tandem and it becomes a full-fledged bullying session. It's a nightmare working for this management team.

    Advice to Management

First and foremost, move the C3s BACK under the Directors. This is key and would solve a multitude of problems.

Streamline the "hub". Have the Hub C3 and Staffing Coordinator report to the AVP. Move the O2 organizer under the appropriate team, and the Admissions team back to the ED. Move the streamlined operation to a more favorable location in the hospital (maybe someplace with a window?). Reduce headcount: remove the director/supervisor positions; to save much needed hospital funds.

As it stands now, the Care Coordination team is too bloated and big - and simple things like vacation requests take way too long to approve. A more streamline operation will save the hospital money.

If the Care Coordination Director/Supervisor were professional, competent and impartial, maybe it would work. But they are not, so it doesn't. They're doing irreparable harm. Dedicated, long-time dedicated employees have quit in disgust.

I worked at Bethesda Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked little over time and direct supervisor was very reasonable. He believed that the work was important but also believed in family values.

    Cons

Absolutely no training. Hospital is a heavy Medicaid hospital so it must manage expenses very aggressively, so pay is way below market averages. Promised a raise that was never implemented over a 5 months span despite multiple promises. The CFO is the worst person that I have ever worked with in my career and routinely uses intimidation when stressed. The CFO had her controller in tears every month end close. CFO is in way over her head and I suspect she will not survive the merger with Baptist longterm. The sole reason that I left was due to an untenable work environment due to the current CFO. If your job would require you to work with the CFO...run!!!

    Advice to Management

Use the merger with Baptist to be a more progressive organization that will better service the community as well as the employees.

    Pros

Good if you're a nursing student looking for a temporary position and possible promotion after graduation.

    Cons

They understaff the place to the point where we literally cannot take care of our patients. Nurses are responsible for 6/7 patients and PCAs have anywhere from 14-18, sometimes more. We have frequent falls and complaints since we cannot be precise and give quality care.

    Advice to Management

Hire more staff, we need help and the patients are unsatisfied with their care.

    Pros

Nice place for making transition from nursing school to nursing arena. Easy training but very hard very first week, too many hours difficult to follow if you have other responsabilities

    Cons

Arbitrary charge nurses. Many of charge nurses do not believe on leadership and management but in bossing and comand you as if you were a robot.
