I have been working at Betts Recruiting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    +Culture
    +People
+Opportunity for growth and continual learning
+CEO is a strong, transparent, hands on, and inspirational leader
+Strong employee perks and incentives (thanks HR!)
+VP is easy to talk to and very helpful
    +Learn how to network

Betts has been an amazing place to lean and grow professionally. It's taught me how to build and grow my personal and professional network (and the value in doing that). I've learned what it means to be a self starter and own and run all aspects of my own business. I came to Betts as a recent grad and have grown immensely over the last several years. Betts is not for everyone, you need to have hustle and drive to be successful and happy here. You're going to need to have a strong work ethic and discipline to be successful, it won't be handed to you, but you will have the opportunity to earn it if you're hungry enough.

    Cons

+Hiring can sometimes be focused a lot more on culture fit than work ethic
+Not everyone is a team player - reward the people that are

    Advice to Management

+Continue the perks (gym, stocked kitchen, unlimited PTO, etc)
+Keep investing in your tenured people and structure commission accordingly
+Keep bringing in strong leaders from the outside (but still promote the people that are ready from within)

I worked at Betts Recruiting full-time

    Pros

Great opportunities for exposure. You meet hiring managers and C-level that allow you to expand and grow connections. A ton of companies that will end up being a strong part of your personal rolodex. Ultimately, they will be your next employer and that's a great thing to have.

    Cons

The (heavy) drinking culture that starts from the top down, the lack of leadership and the un-researched, non-data driven decision making and emotionally reactive culture make it a very challenging place to work. If you're friends with leadership, you're in a good place (regardless of hitting your number), if you're not - watch out.

    Advice to Management

Slow down - lay off the booze, think strategically about growth and the people that it will take to grow the business to the size you want to get it to. Office politics should probably change as well. The strong bones are there - time, data and strategy are needed to right the ship.

I worked at Betts Recruiting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fast-paced
Can use as a stepping stone to get into the tech space

    Cons

Inexperienced and inept management at all levels (all the way up to CEO)
Incredible turnover (more than other recruiting firms) - do a little digging on Linkedin to see
    Lack of training and resources

    Advice to Management

Hire senior professionals to help support and train the people you hire (not just people who have been successful for a few years, but never managed)

Lots of partying is not a fix for unhappy employees

I worked at Betts Recruiting full-time

    Pros

Began my professional recruiting career at Betts and met some wonderful friends during my time there.

    Cons

    - Extremely unrealistic quota goals. Get ready to overwork and get underpaid
    - Young leadership
    - Lots of peer pressure from leadership. Be ready to feel guilty for not wanting to go out and drink with the team
    - CEO is a hot mess
    - Drinking with Carolyn will get you on her good side. Also, any type of involvement in a sorority will get you noticed by Carolyn Betts. Oh... or make her money... she likes money
    - Carolyn has absolutely no desire helping her employees become a better professional in their careers. It's a dog eat dog world and she's the dog
    - Unfortunate that remote offices have no support from HQ. Resources are very limited.
    - You're expected to run a full desk with little experience on a $55k base - good luck

    Advice to Management

Hire leadership that has the experience successfully leading a team. Stop promoting young recruiters from within - it's a copout to what is really needed in a company.

I have been working at Betts Recruiting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to gain a variety of skills (Business Development, Account Management, and Recruiting) across the business. Management is very supportive in making sure the team feels set up for success and is rewarded for their hard work.

    Cons

Just like most startup companies, things change a lot so this job is for someone who can go with the flow and is okay with learning new things constantly. Also, management is younger and doesn't have a ton of experience prior so be sure that that is something you are okay with.

    Advice to Management

Keep being transparent and make your employees feel valued for their hard work!

    - Culture/Good People. It's always fun coming to work everyday...and never a dull moment!
    - Collaborative, team environment
    - Steady flow of business (both candidates & clients)
    - LOTS of opportunities to be successful/room for growth
    - Good incentive/accelerators if you perform (uncapped commission, President's Club to Mexico, Spifs like Concerts & Wine Tasting)

    Cons
