I have been working at Big 5 Sporting Goods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I’ve worked in retail for 3/4 years now and I have yet to find a place that is as cool as Big 5 to work at so far. The people you work with really make the environment nice

    Cons

Nothing really. Just depends on who you work with and all.

    Pros

Working closely with coworkers and employees ensures the most convenient scheduling.

    Cons

Can be difficult to move up in the store unless you move as well.

    Advice to Management

    Use less paper.

I have been working at Big 5 Sporting Goods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You have the chance to learn everything you need. There is vast upward mobility if you are willing to relocate. I have yet to encounter an unrealistic expectation.

    Cons

Demanding work/life balance. Semi-outdated dress code policy. (Lots of movement in business casual clothing.)

    Advice to Management

Foster a culture of personal growth. The reward is who you become, not what you recieve.

Like any position, it does depend on the staff you work with. However there is freedom of movement in the company so you can find a store you like.

    Cons

You need to make sure you have an available schedule and like working nights and weekends.

    Advice to Management

    None at this time.

    Pros

pretty easy job, if ur hired as a cashier you will only do that same with if you apply for sales.

    Cons

customers are crazy and big 5 cares about its customers more then its employees which can be annoying when the customers in the wrong. anyone working in retail knows that customer is not always right but theres nothing u can do. usually managers will side with customers which makes u look bad
