I have been working at Big Blue Swim School full-time

    Pros

    - Working with awesome managers. Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful to be working under such compassionate managers who enjoy making sure their employees are happy instead of putting themselves first. - Working with some of the greatest instructors there are. They're energetic, imaginative, they work hard even when they're down, and they put their everything into their job. Real dedication. - Free Lunch every... other Saturday. Always a nice thing. - Quarterly bonuses. - Despite starting at $12, it gradually goes up twice a year. - Did I mention how great the managers are at the Niles location?

    Cons

    - Getting sick a lot with being around kids. It's something to get used to.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I worked at Big Blue Swim School full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent starting pay. Can start getting health insurance after 3 months at full time.

    Cons

Likely to get ill constantly. Managers like to play favorites. Work/Life balance is bad when you are in the water for over 20 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

Work on getting employees out of the water. Its exhasting. Your employees are more likely to perform better for you if they are well rested and not constantly getting ill.

I have been working at Big Blue Swim School full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Local management is generally excellent. The work itself is easy enough. The training is very thorough.

    Cons

Corporate policies are reactionary and inflexible. Sick day policy is not fully explained and non-intuitive. Little to no job security.

    Advice to Management

Don't lose sight of the forest for the trees. You've got a good thing going on; don't overmanage it into the ground. Take a moment to analyze each situation before enacting new policy. Hire a business analyst.

I have been working at Big Blue Swim School full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Senior Management is so accessible to all levels of employees. One of my co-workers had a question about his paycheck and he reached out to the CEO who responded quickly! The company offers health insurance for all full time employees and covers almost all and definitely more than half of the insurance monthly costs! It is a huge culture of promotion within, so a part time swim instructor could become a general... manager in a few years.

    Cons

The kids are great to work with, but sometimes the parents can be a little difficult.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and communication with all levels of employees.

I have been working at Big Blue Swim School

    Pros

Yong and enthusiastic staff Flexible part time hours & time off Bonuses for Employee of the month & good reviews

    Cons

I honestly can't think of anything that makes me dislike this job.

    Advice to Management

If possible it would have been great to paid for lifeguard training but it is understandable that this isn't possible because the company pays for the certification
