    Pros

Great people and leadership that genuinely cares. Flexible schedules depending on your manager, free on-site fitness classes

    Cons

Limited career opportunities in SF now that HQ is in Ohio. Lots of the best people have left/are leaving.

    Advice to Management

The main reason for maintaining an SF presence was for the talent, so you should do your best not to lose your best people.

    Pros

Nice people, interesting work and a great location downtown

    Cons

Too many changes, JMS culture not compatible with ours and a huge discrepancy in treatment depending on manager. Some people can work from home once a week and have flexible hours, others are tied to an 8-5 schedule no matter what.

    Advice to Management

Too late for advice. We are JMS now.

    Pros

Was a progressive company until JMS took over

    Cons

Don't bother, anything left of the culture BHP had will be removed by the counterculture of JMS.

I have been working at Big Heart Pet Brands full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Smaller brands are very rewarding, while you have limited resources, you are able to make decisions on your own

Colleagues are very smart, hard-working people who love pets

    Cons

Very hierarchical company, at lower levels (ABM, manager) you rarely interact with Directors and VPs, they often seem surprised when you speak up in meetings

Proliferation of directors and VPs creates inefficiencies when making decisions; any major decision requires consensus of 10 directors/VPs. Rarely do ABMs make decisions on larger brands

New leadership has a very top down approach and often lets his ego get in the way of reality, sets unrealistic expectations, provides limited resources, and then doesnt understand why teams are not meeting expectations

    Advice to Management

Empower junior people, remove layers at director/VP level, establish greater division and separation of powers at upper management level

I worked at Big Heart Pet Brands (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic team overall with the exception of the one junior assistant that I worked with. Problem causer. Have never seen anything like it. The rest of the team is stellar.

    Cons

Just the one idiot that I mentioned above who seemed to only live to create problems where problems didn't actually exist. Extremely immature and I'm honestly surprised that this person still have a job.

    Advice to Management

Mgmt is excellent. The CEO is pretty much the best I've ever seen. Nice guy, funny and down to earth. Dave West is an A +.

    Pros

Normal working hours and products that are innovative

    Cons

With the recent acquisition of the company everyone is likely moving from SF to Ohio. Who knows what will happen

    Advice to Management

Make changes when you say you will and provide more information on the strategic outlook of the company
