I have been working at Big Lots part-time

    Pros

The people are incredible, I love working mostly because I'm ADHD, so I like a lot of movement!! And when I start something I try my hardest to get it done otherwise it drives me completely crazy.

    Cons

There are definitely challenges but your team helps you through it, but if I had to choose one, it would be the rude customers, but everything else is great!!

    Advice to Management

Yall are doing a great job!!

    Pros

Flexible hours, not so many people coming in during the day so as a student there are plenty time to review your stuff from school, connect with friends, text, or talk with co-workers. and management is flexible, pay is pretty good.

    Cons

Not so many people comin in so its kinda quiet and boring, especially for someone talkative like me. otherwise, none! pretty satisfied!

    Advice to Management

keep an eye on your workers as some of them may sneak stuffs out of the store.... otherwise, great job! you guys are very competent!

    Pros

Flexibility in scheduling, Fair Pay, Autonomy in planning, solid leadership.

    Cons

Hourly management assistants need to be salaried again for flexibility on hitting the needs of the business.

    Advice to Management

Continue to trim fat from company but look to field management positions as well as office positions that have redundancy in effort. Stores need payroll to run to set standards.

I have been working at Big Lots full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Discount
    Pay
    Employees
Company is growing and new CEO will help it grow faster.

    Cons

    Crazy Hours
Assistant Managers & Store Managers having to unload trucks.

    Advice to Management

Stop crunching payroll and let managers manage without having to work freight and unload trucks. If the company would allow more payroll the store can be run efficiently. More money can be made if everyone is able to focus on other tasks. They should also consider that customers will be satisfied with shorter lines and someone around to help them. Big lots is now promoting their stores so business will increase soon. This company has lots of room for growth and is becoming more and more popular every year.
