They teach everything, some are mre helpful then others, and well its agreat first job.

To much but kissing, not enough pay, and some people are lazy, and some managers can't seem seem to follow the rules or even implement rules.

    I worked at Big O Tires full-time

    Pros

Of all the tire shops to work at, this is the only one I know of that allows their employees to wear their facial hair (as long as it is neatly kept). In general, the atmosphere is fairly laid back.

    Cons

The pay is crap, $9.00/hr for entry level workers and they pay caps out at 11/hr . If you are like me and are looking for a start in the automotive industry, Big O is a good place to start at because they hire new people fairly quickly, but don't ever expect a raise. Ever. The management is also terrible and self-seeking. Upper management rides them for numbers so they will take in any old piece of junk vehicle that we should not be touching for the sake of making a sale. Even when it is busy. Schedule gives out 40 hours a week but is inconsistent and the bi-weekly pay period is enough to make you want to blow your brains out. My coworkers were great but we all understood the way things go. The only training you will get is from your coworkers (assuming you've never worked this industry prior) and if you are to make a mistake, this company will take it out of your already too-small paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Train properly and invest in your workers instead of treating them like minimum wage slaves.

I have been working at Big O Tires full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great local management, even with the district and general manager.

    Cons

Sometimes there's long hours, and they sometimes try and not pay you the correct overtime

    Advice to Management

Your employees work hard for you and make the customers happy, so you should reward them appropriately. Also, management shouldn't throw a fuss when an employee asks for specific days off and especially when they announce they are wanting to take a vacation.

I have been working at Big O Tires full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cheap parts and tires for personal vehicles. Learnt a lot about auto repairs and maintenance. Had pleasure of meeting some great people and working with loyal honest employees.

    Cons

Long hours which very few incentives. All the bonuses and "contests" are for managers. In other words sell x amount of this and your manager gets this or goes on this vacation. Very clear all employees are easily replaceable. Your work schedule will change depending on Managers schedule!

    Advice to Management

    Follow through on your promises!
