I worked at Big Y Foods part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a very casual interview and the hiring process took only a week. It's very easy to switch shifts with people and the managers were very helpful. A good first job for a high school kid.

    Cons

The customers can be quite annoying especially with the coins. There's a lot of trashy people who shop in the Naugatuck branch as well, so be prepared for some attitudes.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the coins. They're constantly lost and should be digitalized.

I worked at Big Y Foods part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, ability to transfer to multiple departments. 401k, PTO hours.

    Cons

Low pay, varying weekly hours keep you guessing. You will quickly see people hired after you make as much or more as minimum wage rises.

    Advice to Management

For a store that presents a retro, overly professional image they seem to treat employees like children. Belittling at times.
