I have been working at Bill Wilson center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great staff to work with!

    Cons

None! Do wish pay rate would increase to off-set rising costs of local rents!

    Advice to Management

Raise pay for employees to afford to live in Silicon Valley!

I worked at Bill Wilson center full-time

    Pros

Diverse population - age range, culture, etc.

    Cons

Ridiculous documentation expectations - all they care about is productivity. Everyone took their work home. Little to no structured supervision. High turn over - at least one person left every month.

    Advice to Management

    Value service providers more

I have been working at Bill Wilson center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Contributing your education, experience, and giving of your inner person to help young, traumatized, at risk, and homeless ones to turn their life around is an immense benefit. They are willing to work around your personal life. They have afforded me the flexibility, creativity, and freedom to reach youth in diverse ways and to grow as an individual professionally.

    Cons

Burn out if you don't self care. Feeling the burnout of other coworkers. A lot of numbers to do, to meet, hard balance of work and paperwork.

    Pros

Well known name in the industry.

    Cons

Disconnect between upper management and line staff. Not a open inviting culture.

I have been working at Bill Wilson center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Thoughtful, hard working staff are appreciated and rewarded here. There is a positive culture, friendly approachable upper management & executives. There is room for professional growth and many training opportunities. It is very nice to come to work happy pretty much every day!

    Cons

A non-profit has it limitations at times, I would not necessarily call it a "con." It provides an opportunity for a person to wear many hats and learn a larger breadth of skills & responsibilities you might not get at a larger corporation.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work - I appreciate how BWC supports and acknowledges staff on a regular basis. This makes me feel valued & appreciated!

I have been working at Bill Wilson center full-time

    Pros

Great place to learn for interns or if you're "green"/new to social work, great benefits = staff wellness, PTO, medical, retirement & life ins., discounts, etc. Friendly & helpful staff/supervisors, ability to grow & encouraging of continuing education. Fun staff parties ie. hikes, bbq's, Great America, etc.

    Cons

Not enough training/support for new employees

    Advice to Management

Make sure new staff receive the training & support they need so they stay longer & don't burn out so quickly.

I worked at Bill Wilson center full-time

    Pros

There are employees that care, and work very hard, for little money and even less respect.

    Cons

CEO, Sparky Harlan, is a TYRANT. She is passive-aggressive, rude, unprofessional and has the whole center in fear of being in the same room as her. Not the kind of leader you would expect to find at a non-profit helping children.

    Advice to Management

Somebody should be the first to hold Sparky Harlan accountable for her disgusting treatment of the employees. She seems to be more concerned with the political aspect of having the title "CEO", rather than being about the cause.

    Pros

Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement
    Management is supportive
    Quality services with passionate staff
Salaries are equitable and competitive to same market

    Cons

Difficult to find enough qualified staff to fill positions in a growing company. This is true for entire industry and not a con as much as a challenge.
