I worked at Billabong (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at the corporate headquarters in Irvine was great because the Billabong Employee Store was onsite.

Having the different brands of action sports was neat to be around. Enjoyed the people I worked with.

    Cons

Since the company is in a turnaround there have been many changes that has lead to spending constraints in all areas of the business.

With downsizing comes an increased workload so the work/life started to become negatively impacted.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully they can right the ship and keep employees happy and engaged and avoid losing the core culture of the company.

I worked at Billabong as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

billabong had lots of brands and lots of jobs. They had great people working for them. loved everybody outside of work. in work was a different story.

    Cons

They had great managment, managment wasn't the issue, the brand was just fading, new managment was horrible, didnt help at all

    Advice to Management

stick to the roots of the brand, no one likes a money hungry corporate business. need to have fun and respect everybody that you employee.

    Pros

Great benefits you are a full-time employee
Laid back dress code, just don't wear a competitor's brand
    Discount is decent

    Cons

Like most corporate retail businesses, you are expendable and if they can pay someone less for what you do, they will

    Opportunity for growth lacking

Communication between corporate and down to the stores is subpar. If you want success, you better be communicating with the people who are actually making you money and providing them with the tools to do so.

Pay is on the lower end, but they think they are paying you handsomely.

    Advice to Management

If someone is consistently working hard and making things happen for you, even if at a measly store level, give them some opportunity to continue to grow instead of just take, take, take. Sucking the life out of people leaves a bad taste and bad reviews for you...which is all I have seen on here. Take some notes, folks!
