      Pros

Very humanely run company that strives to treat everyone fairly and with respect. I look forward to going to work everyday.

      Cons

Repairing the breakdown of employee relation with management, is time consuming but with new upper management it's working.

      Very Disappointed

      Pros

The Benefits are good before salary. Once you get to salary you pay more and have a higher deductible. Pay is good. Overall the company is good and has Core Values and Beliefs. The Majority of the Management Team are genuinely working to empower everyone to be successful and elevate.

      Cons

Accountability is enforced unless you are an exemption( sounds contradictory but this is how it works). You can advance but with the wrong manager you will stay stagnant and reviewed by a personal notion versus professional and their apprehensive attitude toward your progression into a higher role makes one question if you should be at the company or not. Which is sad when you are clearly an asset that is recognized throughout the plant and also with the upper Management staff. I guess I just got put in a position with an inexperienced manager that doesn't actually know how to be unbiased and doesn't know how to actually appreciate the hard working individual they have.

Not all locations (bakeries) are the same!!

      Pros

Current location reasonable hours as far as management. Paid higher end of production supervisors compared to other companies.

      Cons

Current location POOR leadership. Not supported or enabled to do the job. Multiple supervisors manage the same associates and areas. Makes it impossible to improve, change, and hold those accountable. Zero support from co-worker or counter-parts to your shift. Always watch your back. Culture at this location is unreal. They want to blow smoke that they care and appreciate your hard work but in reality only care if it benefits them (upper management)

      Wonderful company to work for!

      Pros

Great people who care about the business and one another. Opportunities to have an impact, offer new ideas and bring about change. Very large organization with opportunities for growth across the US or overseas. Immediate leadership team is fantastic! Open minded, flexible, and supportive. With what I currently have I don't wish to work anywhere else.

      Cons

Let's be realistic, no company is perfect. We still have issues with some very old school thinking across the company, there is not a lot of diversity in mid level and upper management and work life balance is most definitely an issue. BUT it is noted that there are tremendous transformation efforts to change the culture, focus on diversity and inclusion, and improve all aspects of the business. The focus on valuing the person and being highly productive and profitable while being deeply humane is a very serious matter to this company.

      Be prepared to be dedicated

      Pros

Higher than average pay, good benefits. Company as a whole is the real deal - they stand by their values. Safety is important to them.

      Cons

Long hours, staff spread too thin, depending on location, teamwork and cooperation is varied.. In several oppressed areas, many promises are made, yet few ever come about. While parent company is serious about their values, local facilities vary depending on personalities of upper management... In many instances it is a matter of putting on appearances.. Talk a good game but are inconsistent with supporting their management team... If you have a strong sense of self worth you can survive the badly run facilities. Work in a good facility and you are guaranteed to move up through the ranks quickly. Poor work and life balance unless you are upper management.. You must have a flexible schedule and understanding family to work this type of industry.

Bimbo Bakeries Albany New York Bread and Roll Plant Review

Jun 9, 2018 - Maintenance Supervisor in Albany, NY
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good people in some places. But the good ones generally do not last long.

      Cons

Management does not have the ability or will to ensure fairness throughout the workplace. Several Niches involved that require workarounds to be effective if you are not in them. Upper management will not generally back up lower management and you will find yourself hung out to dry in circumstances that should be cut and dry with the union. Expectations are not consistent throughout different team members and exceptions to rules are allowed for niche players. Upper management will applaud you for one thing and then not back you up for the same thing on a different person citing years tenured. IE: It is ok for one team member to be progressively disciplined however for another team member it would not be ok for the same violation. This kind of attitude makes it really hard to get good teamwork. HR is basically non-existant locally. They have one human trying to monitor multiple plants in the area.

      16 years, wasted

      Mar 18, 2017 - Human Resources

      Pros

Local teams are usually great to work with and pay is good. If you like constant change, this is the place for you.

      Cons

HR is a joke. File a respect in the workplace complaint against your boss and get told to work it out with them. Give feedback when asked and get called a known complainer. Values are just posters and slogans and have nothing to do with how associates are treated. They are currently redoing everything they do in Manufacturing, Distribution/Supply Chain, Sales, and Finance, yet still believe they are the best baking company. Upper management contradicts themselves and gets very upset when it's pointed out. They do engagement surveys and don't share results so you can fix the problems.
