I worked at Binder and Binder full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Coworkers were usually fairly kind and hardworking
    - You really hit the ground running with learning SSA disability benefits
    - those are all the pros

    Cons

    - pay is poor for amount and quality of work needed to competently complete duties; didn't work long enough to see if yearly raises were worthwhile but I doubt they were
    - terrible expensive 'union' benefits
    - high expectation of quality work w/ minimal training
    - a month after being hired, was advised the company was folding and Tampa office would be closed at end of March 2017; good job on telling an entire office that they would be without employment in 6 months time and then immediately stating that it was no excuse to not work hard or slack off **very tactful**
    - management is so awful; requested two hours off unpaid and was inquired why I needed the time off since I didn't have PTO (which I wouldn't be able to accrue for another month anyhow; you have to work 3 months before you receive a paid holiday or start accruing PTO); was honest and stated it was for a job interview and my request was denied because they wouldn't be making accommodations until God knows when, what a joke, real knee slapper
    - the software system is very outdated and often incorrect because there is barely any quality control when it comes to case management
     - bureaucracy of having to call caseworkers and traveling reps to do their job is convoluted, inefficient; wastes so much time and effort to complete minor assignments
    - lots of insensitive remarks about clients alleging disability; obviously, some opportunists are expected in this field but that's no reason to denigrate clients — huge gossip mill; some employees were very childish and lived off office 'drama' if you can call it that

    Advice to Management

Your ship is sinking, for the love of all that is good just let me people take an hour or two off to go interview. There's no need to be a butt about it. If you don't loosen up, I doubt there will be anyone left by February to help the transition.

    Pros

Co-workers! People become close when they have a common enemy.

    Cons

Terrible management, nepotism, cronyism, and hostile work environment.

    Advice to Management

Should've hired outside management who actually have experience managing companies.

    Pros

Big office, make a lot of friends.
    Many locations

    Cons

    MANAGEMENT IS TERRIBLE
You will get in trouble for everything, literally everything.
Favoritism if someone does not like you, they will nit pick everything to get you fired.
Salary is far, far lower than the average locally for a paralegal.
    Overworked and underpaid.
    No room to advance.
    Raises are far and few.
If you are 1 second late 1 time you can be written up. Not joking.
    No real office party.

I worked at Binder and Binder full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

When I started you can learn a lot and was given opportunities

    Cons

They do no like to promote individuals on their ability. Some of the Administrators are prejudice. Lack education and could not get another job outside of Binder to save their life
They promote lazy, and incompetent individuals who kiss their butts. And those individuals are taught to keep you downtrodden. So the morale and atmosphere is low and lousy.

    Advice to Management

Try earning a degree, learn people skills and be able to do the job your workers are trained to do. Stop promoting jerks and hire individuals who are competent.

    Pros

You are able to learn so much about the work of Social Security Disability with no experience necessary. It is a paycheck and a good starter career to build your resume.

    Cons

Pay is terrible with a high level of micro management and complete lack of professionalism. No a long term career path.

    Pros

Able to get a lot of experience and fair training. Salary is good compared to most companies. Don;t lose time because of lunch break. Work 45 minutes to get 40 hour week. You get paid for time in and time out.

    Cons

they drive you crazy to produce always on your back. Equipment is not always working. Scanners are old and in poor shape. If the computers go down your expected to walk around and look busy.

    Advice to Management

They need to get supervisor's that are educated. Stop expecting the impossible when the equipment is at fault. Stop telling people your going to fire them if they don't produce impossible amounts of work.
