    Pros

There are opportunities to switch department to get experience in other areas. Management is trying to create a fun social atmosphere.

    Cons

To much overtime, not enough staff. Some departments are stretched between buildings. You must follow up on your Communications to see that the work is done when you expect.

    Advice to Management

Be sure your middle managers value their staff.

I worked at BioReliance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to start your career in the biotech. field, and they pay fairly low but counteract it with good benefits and tons of free food

    Cons

Management looks out only for themselves, but isn't their job to help their employees become better scientist rather than use and abuse them till they run out the door?.......

    Advice to Management

......in the end if you think about it, wouldn't keeping your employees happy and making them better scientist, make your management look better?

Lastly, just care for every single one your employee's, make them feel comfortable so you can COMMUNICATE!

I worked at BioReliance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benifits, plenty of activities and parties, friendly and knowlegable staff.

    Cons

Increasing business means more work for current staff. Can be overworked at times. Pay is average for the area. Good people seem to be leaving for higher laying jobs in the area.

    Advice to Management

Continue to build staff and resources to match the company business growth. Reevaluate pay for employees.

    Cons

management is new some with absolutely no prior management experience and very few years of industry experience. management is either non responsive or into micromanagement.

    Advice to Management

Get some experienced folks on board!! Just because someone is good at sales it doesnt mean they are good at being technically good either or good at managing people.

I have been working at BioReliance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice (did I say nice?) people. No back stabbing, very helpful, (relaxed as much as possible). Provide lots of free food. Relatively flex hours. Several good years of growth trend. Respectful. Diverse work force.

    Cons

Salary + benefits could be better. Stagnant, very hard to drive change. High turnover of experienced people (>1 y) hamper stability and growth (see salary above). No clear road map. Objectives seem to shift. Critical resources misuse. Tasks change on the go. Fire extinguishing mode is too often for a company this size. Inter-Departmental collaboration could be improved.

    Advice to Management

Salary jumps every 2y - to increase retention of corporate knowledge and talent. Set goals and make those prime goals for a given time - 6 months, a year or five and stick to the plan. Provide adequate resources to do the job. You are the only one with the authority to stop vicious cycles: Too many deadlines - pressure - errors - improvement pulled to do event analysis - less attention to details - more errors - no additional resources at the lab level - and repeat. The most critical steps are those inside the lab everything else is paperwork.
