I have been working at Biolife Plasma Services (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the people you will work with are great.
Compensation, for my area, is higher than the average wage.
There is upward mobility, to a point

    Cons

If you get assigned a flex shift be prepared to leave at 9pm and come in the next morning at 4:45am.

I have been working at Biolife Plasma Services part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are hard to beat. Plus you get 3 weeks of vacation right from the start.

    Cons

Schedule is horrible. They are open from 5:30 am till 9:30 pm so you can work any hours they need you.

I have been working at Biolife Plasma Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The job advancement opportunities are great if you are willing to move or live in an area where the company has primary facilities. Pay is good through advancement. Benefits are comparable to those of other big companies.

    Cons

Pay increases do not keep up with inflation. New/younger employees are hired in at better salary levels than the more seasoned, experienced employees are at. Job security is iffy due to the company's continuous search for ways to cut staffing/costs. Plasma center employees are significantly overloaded with procedural requirements (although this is changing with the culture of the new company owner, Shire).

    Advice to Management

Widen your vision. Recognize that 20-30 year olds are not the only valuable work force. Treat ALL of your employees with respect. Resist micromanaging your employees.

I have been working at Biolife Plasma Services part-time

    Pros

Incredible benefits program, pays better than most phlebotomy positions including in hospitals. Shire truly cares about their employees.

    Cons

Work is harder than a typical phlebotomist position. It's fast-paced, demanding work that will keep you on your feet, but it's very rewarding work.

    Advice to Management

Just keep showing your employees that you care about that. The better you treat employees, the better they'll treat you!
