I have been working at Biolumina full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    - Leadership genuinely cares about you and does not regard you as just another set of hands - Extremely generous compensation, vacation package, work-from-home flexibility, and overall benefits compared to industry standard - Senior management is extremely approachable and encourages feedback even from the most junior of employees (not a culture of intimidation) - You can totally be yourself here with zero judgement...

    Cons

    - Hard to book conference rooms due to growing agency - IT services have been a growing pain for some time as the holding company has switched over to an independent IT service group

    Advice to Management

As we grow continue to maintain the culture that makes this place so special.

I worked at Biolumina full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Decent benefits, generous vacation allotment, flexible work from home structure.

    Cons

Account driven from the CEO all the way down to Assistant Account Executives. Little room for creativity. Promises never kept. It’s an all-girls club from the top down — and a Mean Girls club in many cases to boot — with Rosé flowing every night, Type-A Alpha Basics running the day to days with little regard for the creativity that goes into the work they presume to know about. Technology is voodoo to everyone there....

    Advice to Management

Practice the core values you preach so much. Your hearts are not brave, your minds are not open, and your hands certainly are not ready. It’s a great sales pitch and I’ve seen it done to great effect, but that’s all it is. Marketing. You’re marketing to your own staff rather than being good stewards of their livelihoods. The people who DO the work for you, and make you look successful, aren’t being taken care of. And...

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Biolumina full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Crummy coffee machine? Soho Location - provides a nice escape from the high-stress and negative office environment

    Cons

Sweatshop, little regard for the people on the ground. Zero training and development. High focus on the bottom line- they'll squeeze you dry. Work till 3 AM yet don't expect the agency to reward you. They'll cut you to the ground god forbid you have to leave at 6 PM. Never any promotions, if so, 5 % max and a title that doesn't mean anything.

    Advice to Management

To the holding company - you need to reshuffle management (they don't have a clue) and install an improved company culture.

I have been working at Biolumina full-time for more than a year

      Pros

I’ve been in the business for a little more than 10 years and recently switched departments. I’ve been at Biolumina now for about 6 months, and never has an agency felt more like home. Some of the greatest minds I’ve ever encountered work at this agency. The leadership team is the most approachable I’ve ever worked with, actively encouraging employees from all departments to shape the vision and future of this rapidly...

Location is a bit of a no-mans land (right outside holland tunnel) but very accessible from all areas of the city and the suburbs.

      Advice to Management

Continue to encourage your employees to have a voice. Many people are hesitant to share their feedback in group settings. Help them give their feedback with written surveys and one-on-one or small group settings.

      No opinion of CEO

      I worked at Biolumina full-time

      Pros

      - Friendly executive team - Good and supportive art team - Bagel Monday - Weekly agency gather with drinks and snacks

      Cons

      - Bad process which causes unnecessary long hours - There are some extremely snappy and disrespectful account people - Account driven which leaves limited room for creativity - Decision makers often don’t have good taste and think in an old-school way

      Advice to Management

      - Spend more time on looking for things to improve rather than things to pet your own shoulder for

I have been working at Biolumina full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

I’ve worked at a handful of agencies over the years. When i started at BL, it was the easiest transition. The acceptance and friendships i’ve formed even exist outside of work. I also love the teams i work on. The people i work with are so passionate about what they do, it’s easy to get caught up in the energy with them. My department managers also have our well being in mind and are always looking out for us. I’ve even...

      Cons

BL is growing very fast. There are always going to be growing pains and difficult clients. And some days it’s extremely frustrating but thankfully working with great people outweighs the bad

      Advice to Management

Keep asking the people on the ground what they’d like to see more of and how they can help. Happy employees don’t only stay, they encourage other good people to join :)

I have been working at Biolumina full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

There's a lot of people trying to do good work and promote a culture.

      Cons

People who don't get it, drag the place down... complain to everyone who will listen and then leave.

      Advice to Management

Better communication across departments. Senior Management a little out of touch.

      Pros

The people here are amazing, across the board. Everyone, in every department is collaborative and supportive of each other. They really live by their values and hold each department and person to them. Also, as a creative it is so important to feel that you have a voice and here, I definitely do. Cons

As stated before, there are some growing pains, but that also means that they are maintaining business. I don't think this is too much of a con, though. They are also aware of the resources they need and ensure that everyone has them.

      Advice to Management

Continue to give every employee space to have a voice and listen to feedback from all departments.

I have been working at Biolumina full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Biolumina is a phenomenal place to work -the creativity, strategic mindset, and quality of the work is unmatched. Priding ourselves on this idea of ‘curiosity builds’ has encouraged everyone to challenge one another, and more importantly our clients, to take the work that much farther -allowing us to create not just good work, but great work that adds true value for our customers. With an oncology focus, it’s evident...

      Cons

Biolumina might not be for everyone, but in my experience I’ve noticed those whom lack passion or drive are often the ones unsatissified or unsuccessful here. If you’re interested in flying under the radar or producing sub-par work, this is not the place for you.

      Advice to Management

Continue living the values, encouraging folks to challenge the norm, and infusing thoughtful insights into everything you do.
