I worked at Biomat USA (Less than a year)

    Pros

Center manager/assistant manager are great as well as regional manager. The staff that I worked with was all friendly they jus got burnt out so quickly.

    Cons

All other management positions are filled with people who have no management experience and it is obvious in the running of day to day operations.

    Advice to Management

More of a presence for managers instead of being holed up in the office

    Pros

    -Decent benefits
-Able to get experience in medical assisting/reception and phlebotomy and lab work
-No prior healthcare experience or education required

    Cons

-Starting pay is laughable, and raises aren't great either
-Schedules are basically fictional. Your start time is on the schedule but not the end time. I worked there for a year and a half and I can count on one hand the number of times I left after my eight hours were up. It boils down to mandatory overtime everyday, that you're later yelled at for. It's insane.
-Awful communication in all aspects. Between the lab, the floor and reception, between management/quality and staff, between corporate and the centers, nobody seems to have the ability to communicate clearly.
-High turnover rate and being chronically understaffed.
-Everyone hates their job and it leads to a pretty negative environment.
    -Very stressful and fast paced
-Unrealistic expectations for how fast you can work and how much you can get done, especially by yourself
-Schedule is often completely random. You'll get stuck on the closing shift for months at a time out of nowhere, or have to clopen multiple times a week. There's no regard for work/life balance at all. Biomat is expected to be your life.
-A lot of the donors can range from sort of unpleasant to downright dangerous or abusive. If you're a woman you're guaranteed to be sexually harassed at some point, and you'll get yelled at daily by donors whose vitals don't pass. A lot of drug addicts looking for some money, too. Plus it's Biomat, so it's probably in a bad area.

    Advice to Management

-Learn how to communicate clearly with the staff. You'll say one thing, then contradict it at the next staff meeting.
-A little appreciation goes a long way. Don't treat your staff as disposable and worthless.
-Have more regard to the work/life balance of your employees. They don't live there.
-Don't talk badly about other employees in front of one. One of the lab techs shouldn't know your opinion on everyone working there. It was awkward.
