I worked at Birch Communications full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Majority of the people that work there are terrific.

    Cons

C level executives are cut throat and down right mean and unprofessional. Frequent cursing at employees, belittling and talking down to are common place. If you are a "nice guy" in your management style you will never survive at Birch, the hostile environment will push you out the door quickly.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Birch Communications full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

The work-life balance was a positive.

    Cons

The company doesn't promote within, is in financial trouble, doesn't embrace personal, or professional growth, and the communication is poor from a macro and micro perspective. I wouldn't want any friends or family to work here unless it was for a temporary position.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with your messages to your employees. In late 2016 the Executive Leadership team had an All Hands call speaking of organic growth and embracing our cloud-based technology as goals for 2017. A couple months later the company laid off an entire sales channel and pivoted to our legacy products (old technology). The Integrity of the company must improve. Management also needs to add layers of personal and professional...

I worked at Birch Communications full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

I can not think of any pros It was a good company but a new CEO came in a destroyed the company.

      Cons

Employees are treated bad and are made to feel like a number. Constant worry about being laid off. Work loads are ridiculous and management does not care about employees. No chance of promoting. No security at all and the insurance is aweful

      Advice to Management

Try training the managers. An employee should never have to train their manager. Open up position to employees not award open positions to someone who doesn't know anything and treats employees badly

I worked at Birch Communications full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Got paid weekly Great hours 7am-3pm Pay isn't bad $12.50hr

      Cons

Wow, where to start. I never do reviews unless it's over the top outstanding but this is totally opposite. The overall work isn't bad, just keep smiling and dialing. What frustrated me and got me to this point was the fact that I gotten suspended for being "rude" to a customer. I asked what was it that I said and they said they don't know. I insisted on hearing the recording because I was confident that i wasn't being...

      Advice to Management

learn to communicate!! And stop suspending people for dumb reasons. (One girl got suspended for playing with her hair and they said she didn't look productive even though her quota says other wise). Don't change your story just because you were wrong, even when the supervisor clearly stated what I was doing

I worked at Birch Communications full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

-My co-workers. If I ever needed help, I knew I wouldn't drown. -Before layoffs, my schedule was perfect. Had an equal work/life balance -Opportunity to learn, if you made it known you wanted to learn

      Cons

-When escalating issues to the proper departments, they would give serious pushback -Outages were often, and seeking help for mitigation seemed impossible -No room for promotion -Felt like our team was the last to know or find out any important information

      Advice to Management

Sell the web hosting and Cloud Server departments to a company who can do more with it (such as Rackspace). I was there while it was still Cbeyond and although Cbeyond had their problems, it was still a good place to work and move up.

I worked at Birch Communications full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

a light severance package and an opportunity to move on.

      Cons

      - direction is more erratic then a chicken with its head cut off - the only way to address anything is to implement more steps between entry level and leadership when you have an issue - talk about growth, improved products, and then push back and delay month in and month out - install rate on fiber is honestly about 25% - complete disconnect between the steps of the sales process. no communication between...

      Advice to Management

It was so sad to see people leave other jobs to come here only to get laid off months later. Birch stole time from people they will never get back. maybe try rebranding, change your name back to cbyeond, people blame birch for everything and talk about the company like it was a treasure when it was cbeyond. most importantly, value the lives of human beings. stop lying, don't make promises you never intend on keeping,...

I worked at Birch Communications full-time for more than a year

      Pros

None, they laid off their entire Direct Sales Team by sending their HR staff to every local office and basically stating "thanks for the effort, but we're letting you go today."

      Cons

Too many to list. They are a terribly mismanaged Co that is running out of money. Recently fined multiple millions of dollars for misleading customers.

      Advice to Management

Management only cares about themselves. They lied for months to their loyal employees about pending transactions, hiring, and job security. Hopefully, the board fires them all eventually.
