I worked at Bisk full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some great coworkers in my department, food truck on site.

    Cons

Our CITO was released along with myself in February's latest batch of "workforce redundancy strategic realignment". This seems to occur nearly every 18 months or so at Bisk, across departments. We were told the layoffs were not merit based, but merely based on salary- with that being said we were offered a meager severance package . New senior members of leadership were brought in around every 6 months or so with the latest and greatest plan to turn the company around, while every single one failed. No faith in stability of job or company as a whole. Raises were meager .

    Pros

2 weeks PTO upfront Tuition assistance Company culture

    Cons

-high turnover because of unrealistic goals, extreme micromanagement, and no upward mobility in the enrollment center. -random mass lay offs, became monthly lay offs during covid19. -Leadership is oblivious. In response to covid-19 they implemented absurd strategies in a desperate attempt to make revenue. Every day was a new outreach “campaign” through an automated dialer system. The system makes calls for you and if someone picks up they are in your ear instantly. It got so bad to where the system was calling non-contacted leads from 3+ years ago, records with documentation that the prospect was no longer interested, people who graduated years ago, etc. Worst part, the reps were informed of these campaigns with only MINUTES notice. It’s completely disrespectful to the enrollment reps who the company relies on to bring in revenue. -Unrealistic metrics. Each month we had a certain number of revenue we had to meet. You would think that during a global crisis this number would be more modest as people aren’t investing in their education right now, but nope. My number actually increased and because i failed to meet that number from March 2020-May 2020 (literally since the start of the virus outbreak) myself and others were let go en masse. -Favoritism/seniority. From your first day it is instilled that you must handle your records a certain way and follow exact processes. The older reps get away with so much file mishandling, call manipulation, and general laziness because they’ve been with the company so long their book of business is so big they can do bare minimum and still meet their metrics.

I have been working at Bisk full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1. The relationships that are formed with co-workers. Somehow this place attracts amazingly talented people. The best part of being here was who I got to meet and the things we built outside of work 2. My manager. She is rare and amazing. She's one of the reasons I'm still here. 3. Work from home. Even though it's not equally exercised, it's a great benefit that I've been able to take advantage of that has really helped me when my family dynamics needed me to be home.

    Cons

    1. Faux Leadership. They are the blind leading the blind, have very little self-awareness and repeat the same behaviors that create what has been a steady decline. They say all the right things but never follow through. They ask for input but never listen to their people. They make decisions in isolation and with ZERO plan or strategy to implement. Then, they delegate the responsibility of cleaning up the mess to the people they didn't listen to in the first place. 2. Technology and process barriers. For a company that is supposed be a tech leader, their systems or antiquated and sorely incapable with one another. Because there is poor integration, it requires certain skill sets that they refuse to hire. They can't keep the good people they attract because of #1 and they don't hire so the deficit gets bigger and bigger. So the ones who remain are left carrying more and more. Burn out is real. They have wellness programs that are nice. But, the people are already so burned out from the functional barriers to performing their roles, they feel almost tone deaf.
