I have been working at Bisk full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent healthcare, great education benefits, and great co-workers

    Cons

Micromanaging leadership team, disorganization, not enough new leads, some unethical practices

    Advice to Management

Let your employees do their jobs... Relax a little and learn to have some fun. It might help with the insane amount of turnover and the poor morale. Trust that your people know what they're doing.

I worked at Bisk full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Free college course and good benefits.

    Cons

Horrible management, no career growth, TA and HR are not helpful

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring management from other companies and promote from within. When you layoff 60 people each year don't turn around and give that five million saved in salaries to the top managers that lost you your companies money in the first place. In the four years I worked there, I saw this happen four separate times.

I have been working at Bisk full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I love the mission-driven aspect of Bisk. Employees are very passionate about helping online learners achieve their goals. I’ve seen the company go through a lot of change in my 5+ years working here. While many things have changed (people, platforms, software, systems, processes) the biggest change has been the shift in culture. They've rolled out expanded benefits like more paid holidays, paid parental leave and flexible...

    Cons

THE CHANGE! Haha even though I see this as a PRO and necessary for any business today, there are always growing pains with change. The company has invested in new platforms and software but implementations are never easy. We still have some old processes and systems that need to be updated/optimized so we can work more efficiently and effectively. We still have some people who resist change and like the “old Bisk way”...

I have been working at Bisk full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Tuition Assistance. PTO. Employees become close friends.

    Cons

No work-life balance; Lack of advancement; poor culture; uneducated managers; unrealistic goals; no incentives; high turnover; no teamwork; sales environment

    Advice to Management

Figure out why your employees are quitting or are being fired so often. High turnover is the biggest sign that something is not working. The certificate programs are expensive. Working adults can't afford the programs. The company is the true definition of insanity. You call the same people over and over again. It's unjust to write someone or fire them because of students withdrawing and not being able to afford the programs....

I have been working at Bisk full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Some really great smart people. Some real potential all over the company. Tighten up the model and get some new business and this thing might make it after all...

    Cons

I’ve been at Bisk through a lot of ups and downs, and I hate to say it but this feels like a low point. The brilliant and kind and thoughtful people are being sidelined for no reason that I can see. The positive culture that so many worked so hard to create and that meant so much to a lot of us is being dismantled for no reason that I can see. If you were deliberately trying to destroy the advances made in the last few...

    Advice to Management

Look at your staff and evaluate who is doing what and why. Do you really think you have the right people in the right places? Look at credentials and look at personalities. Justify it. Look at the people that have left and those that have stayed and ask yourself “why?” Look at the hard choices you made a few years ago and the progress made after. Remember those lessons. Look at your exit interviews. Do some skip level...

    I worked at Bisk full-time

    Pros

The head of the agile dept is the best! Great leader and mentor. Company itself is chasing its tail. Good benefits! Time off, 401k match up to 6%, parental leave and more

    Cons

There were recent changes to some departments that weren't the best for the company, it is becoming a bit top heavy with no delegation. No room for growth.

I worked at Bisk full-time for less than a year

    Pros

A lot of great people work there.

    Cons

Unfortunately the managers are incompetent. Some really talented people are smothered under managers that choose to make bad decisions. Communications Department is key example. The Comm managers have no real world experience and can’t see how ineffective they are.

    Advice to Management

Stop making bad decisions. Stop applauding bad management choices that trickle down to undo your staff.

I worked at Bisk full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

In my position, I was left alone and trusted to do my job without supervision. I found if I did my job, I was left alone.

    Cons

A lot of unhappy people, which caused a lot of good people to be unhappy. Management problems.

    Advice to Management

Find the empire builders and keep them in their place, they cause a lot of conflict. Apart from that I found them a decent company.
