    Pros

    - feeling part of a team, great energy, interest in reaching common goals
    - freedom to work remotely and meet with the manager according to your availability and schedule
    - great office!
    - overall good benefits, working conditions, they really care about employees and if you have any issue you feel comfortable in bringing it up

    Cons

    - lack of communication and engagement with the HQ-based team (this is valid for homeworkers)
    - some confusion when being part of different teams, therefore different country managers
    - career advancement is somewhat unclear

    Advice to Management

maybe try and improve the working hour rotation, thus giving homeworkers the possibility to have weekends off without necessarily using their holiday days

I have been working at BlaBlaCar full-time

    Pros

BlaBlaCar is a company filled with people who care about their jobs and one another. Everyone works hard so there is no animosity between teams or individuals. You are afforded a great deal of autonomy and there is organizational accountability. The growth of both the team and product are exciting to be a part of. It is a culture of continuous learning and improvement, with plenty of opportunities for growth and to make meaningful contributions. Highly recommend BlaBlaCar!

    Cons

It's hard to think of any cons about working for BlaBlaCar. As a quick aside, the interview process was long and a bit arduous but when you arrive you realize why! Everyone who works there contributes positively to the culture and is highly valued - a result that makes tough interview processes worthwhile!

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in people and culture - it's working. :)

I worked at BlaBlaCar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    International team
    Strong data driven approach
Resources to launch new products and adopt to local markets

    Cons

    Became bureaucratic
Most of key decisions were made in HQ, local offices lost their influence

    Advice to Management

Invest more in local managers education to help them grow their employees
I felt lack of central support when we implemented OKRs

I have been working at BlaBlaCar full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great offices, friendly and multi cultural coworkers, many perks and events are organized, the "fun and serious" moto is well deserved 😉

    Cons

Blablacar's software stack and processes are transitioning from quick and dirty culture (young startups often have very pressing short term goals and few experienced developers) to a more mature and serious one.
This is for the better but it's difficult, and there are many tensions and challenges to deal with the significant technical debt and the employees used to the previous culture.

    Advice to Management

BlaBlaCar success is very dependent on its software platform adaptability and quality.
I'd recommend putting a stronger emphasis on hiring senior engineers with very strong experience from the leading companies of our industry.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook

I worked at BlaBlaCar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great opportunities available if you’re in the right team
    - Good network of contacts with job
    - Travel constantly
    - Work with people from around the world

    Cons

    - No work/life balance. Expect you to put work as number one - I’ve seen colleagues miss funerals, neglect health and personal issues to not be seen as weak or incapable of their job
    - A lot of staff have come direct from university or this is their first job - a lot of inexperience in the company which shows with a lot of managers who don’t know how to make decisions
    - Endless reviews and meetings stifle productivity. Not enough gets done in the company because of inexperience and lack of direction
    - Too many stakeholders all the time. Some people with no experience at all give unwanted input in fields they have no expertise in
    - Toxic culture of prioritising people who’ve been in the company longer vs. People brought in with ACTUAL experience. There are people in the company that jump from role to role and team to team - eg: Product > Brand > HR and have absolutely no experise in their roles and ruin the teams they try to enter.
    - Titles are laughable - everyone seems to be a manager

    Advice to Management

Take a look at who’s left - just because they’ve been there the longest doesn’t mean they are the best for the job. You’re overlooking talent that comes in with lots of experience and skills in favour for preserving a culture that’s long gone
