I have been working at Black Angus Steakhouse full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

the food is great and the atmosphere is nice.

    Cons

Long hours and cranky customers. Old customers are impossible to please at times and the way they use coupons everyday is ridiculously annoying. Staff are lazy and the buildings are old and falling apart. No room to grow or move up.

    Advice to Management

cut out the everyday coupons. It brings people in that only want a deal and that really dont care about our food. It also leads to low tippers and low moral among staff. The job is hard and managers are spread thin.

  3. "Okay serving job"

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

    Flexible
    Definitely no micro management

    Cons

Not up to date on scheduling - no 'hot schedules', etc...still literally post weekly schedule on paper in back of restaurant.
    Slow A LOT OF
Average age of guests are all senior citizens - aside from that, place isn't very lively. For a serving job, it could not be more boring.

    Advice to Management

Liven the place up a little, be more involved
with your servers. Don't let some catty servers with
seniority run the restaurant...do your job.

I worked at Black Angus Steakhouse full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

People are very dedicated to the company and the opportunity for advancement if you take charge of your career path

    Cons

Training since your training almost entirely depends on getting the correct trainer and it is impossible for one trainer to be the best at everything

    Advice to Management

Can make better use of existing talent

I worked at Black Angus Steakhouse part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for shifts. The location ensures that there is always plenty of traffic coming through. Lots of parking and near major roads and highways.

    Cons

Bad products (microwaved food), constantly changing management. Never ending coupons. The kitchen is not large enough to serve so many guests.

    Advice to Management

Hire competent store managers so that your employees aren't constantly having to deal with changes and uncertainty on a daily basis.

  9. "Not ideal."

I have been working at Black Angus Steakhouse part-time

    Pros

Great coworkers that provide a fun shift.
Current managers are more laid back and intent on creating a fun place to work - talking and joking with all employees.
Some days are great with excellent tips.

    Cons

Management is too focused on labor costs and on sales. Management is under a lot of pressure from the higher ups. Almost all but the closing servers have been cut/sent home after a single round of tables lately. It's increasingly more difficult to find shifts -everybody needs shifts- and to make money. Servers are expected to make a few different sales pitches per table...at some point, the customers can see past it. Very high turnover rate in all positions - including management. Also, heavy coupon distribution. This attracts a lot of cheap customers that are stingy with their spending and tipping. Many try to work around the coupon conditions to get greater deals and are unhappy when you are unable to further subtract from their bill...Those servers coming in from other restaurants are not typically happy with our clientele and with the money they leave with at the end of the night.

    Advice to Management

I understand that the managers are under pressure from above and actually feel that they are doing their best to make our location a more hospitable place to work considering. I don't feel that the managers have much freedom. They couldn't do much with advice. I wish that the company was more employee oriented. Happy employees are the reason the people come back...

I worked at Black Angus Steakhouse part-time

    Pros

Management was awesome and the environment was great. staff operated as a unit and was always willing to help out.

    Cons

Some times it's busy and sometimes it's not busy, so if they need you then they need you, if they don't then they will send you home.

I have been working at Black Angus Steakhouse (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Consistent business as it's been around awhile.
Hire people who put the customers first.
Easy menu that customers always enjoy.
    Co-workers always make it worthwhile.

    Cons

Upper management care more about labor costs and company's bottom line than customers or employees.
Never more than minimum wage with no benefits.
Management prefers to keep you under 40 hours.
While good compared to many other restaurants, you're still working in a restaurant.

    Advice to Management

Customers hate when servers are forced to be salesmen.
Stop focusing on the negative aspects of service and find positive reinforcement for employees.
