    Pros

    Not too many. If you are okay constantly letting clients down and fighting not to get commissions stolen from operations then you can make decent money.

    Cons

    If you are comfortable with lies that you must tell your customers then this is the spot for you. Every job has disappointed clients due to our lack of control of the crews. They have an internal struggle between crews/coordinators and Sales. The crews constantly try to take your commissions and the company usually sides with them and you just have to be okay with it or find another job. They only love you when... you are selling and if you go 2 months without a sale they already want you gone. Then they want you to market and cold call all winter for your own leads.

    Pros

    Excellent company to work for. The company motto "No Customer Left Behind" is true and has been proven again and again. This is a great time to work at Black Diamond due to the growth and potential to make money. For those that are not afraid of hard work this is the place to be.

    Cons

    This isn't a con but rather a truth. To be successful in this business requires commitment and hard work. You get out what you put in!

    As the company grows and evolves continue to work on lines of communication. The key to any successful organization.

    Roger the CEO has tremendous vision, leadership and ambition and knows how to manage a home improvement business. The company motto “No Customer Left Behind” is stood by time and time again.

    Cons

    With success and rapid growth come growing pains in keeping up with the strong demand and supporting it with the necessary infrastructure. However the company has proven its commitment to always rise up and continue its positive growth trajectory.

    Pros

    There are no pros about the company itself. The location is relatively convenient and there is usually plenty of parking.

    Cons

    Unethical and disrespectful. A $30+ million company who nickels and dimes their customers and employees. Every word that comes out of the manager’s mouths is manipulative and calculated .

    Pros

    They do a good deal of marketing to get the name out there, which means a good flow of leads during the spring/summer months.

    Cons

    Be prepared to work twice as hard for half the money. You're expected to sell the project, manage the project, daily crew management and customer service. You will only get paid for selling the project. About 80% of your installs will be below par, you'll rarely have a happy client. This company does the absolute least amount of work required. They only fix things if someone posts a bad review, otherwise - good luck... getting things cleaned up. When you leave, make sure they cut you a check right there. The management will make sure that you don't get your final commissions. Bad way to run a business.

    Advice to Management

    Clean up the whole process. Hire people to manage projects. Really need to work on the crews that you sub your work to, some very inexperienced and dangerous guys out there. If you expect people to work an 80 hour week, pay them for their time. You will continue to lose talent with this dodgy behavior.

    Pros

    Great company culture! The office team is very positive and great to work with. Every year has been more successful than the last, and our team continues to grow. The President/CEO, Roger, is hands down the best company owner I've worked for. So many companies drop the ball with customer service, but even as we expand Black Diamond stands by our "No Customer Left Behind" philosophy and does all it can to achieve... as close to 100% client satisfaction as possible. It's impossible to be perfect, but I've been on the team for years and have seen Black Diamond handle customer service challenges more aggressively than any other company I've worked for... and nearly always, the client is happy in the end. The owners place an emphasis on having "Black Diamond Moments", where team members are encouraged to go out of their way to do something nice for another employee, client, etc. LOVE this!!! For employees who are strong contributors, there is always opportunity to grow with the company and advance in their positions. I really enjoy working for a family owned company that sees the value in their team.

    Cons

    Black Diamond is family owned and operated, which is great for the family dynamic... but the only "con" I can think of is that sometimes there are growing pains with how quickly we have developed. However, the management team and the owners always seize this as an opportunity to create new SOPs, policies and procedures to continue the company's success.

    Continue to listen to feedback from your team members about ways to improve our systems and build Black Diamond into the best company it can be!
