I have been working at Black & Veatch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The staff is friendly, but they do expect you to meet expectations and deadlines. If you can get an internal network going, there are many opportunities that can help advance your career. Great benefits, you can also purchase employee stock (this is an employee-owned company), and travel to different job sites, should that be necessary.

    Cons

They may move you around a little, but nothing that they won't notify you about in advance. Internal job postings are not always advertised to all professionals.

I worked at Black & Veatch for more than a year

    Pros

Fun job with lots of perks. Everyone got along really well and that made everything run smoothly. I really hated to leave.

    Cons

Very ethnically diverse group (good thing) which sometimes make communication difficult. I truly have nothing negative to say about the Ca. office I worked at. However, I understand from former co-workers, that the Overland Park office was stiflingly depressing and the morale was very low.

    Advice to Management

At my old office, no advice. At Overland Park, treat your employees with respect and they will work that much harder. A happy employee is a productive employee.

I have been working at Black & Veatch full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good place to work if your in IT or an engineer....only

    Cons

It's referred for years/decades as the Institution for a reason. They encourage you to think "out side the box" but DON'T YOU DARE! Walk the line like everyone else does and smile. Horrible place to work if you have a brain and decide to use it. A good place to start and have on your resume but don't stay too long.

    Advice to Management

Embrace change, it's NOT a bad thing.
