I have been working at Black & Veatch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Coworkers are great people to work with

    Cons

Low pay, bad benefits(insurance is a joke), middle and upper management treat people terribly, no willingness to improve processes, no technical expertise, poor client relationships, unpaid overtime

    Advice to Management

Stop breaking the law and pay people for over time, comp time is required to be rewarded at time and a half

I worked at Black & Veatch for more than a year

    Pros

Both my bosses and coworkers were incredibly kind - despite being a high school student, they treated me as a professional equal and respected my thoughts on projects. They also had a lot of wisdom to offer, from the engineering process to general professionalism, that truly made my time at B&V a learning experience.

    Cons

Due to the nature of the industry, there were multiple occasions where the work flow was so diminished that we were out of work for some time; if you don't get entrenched in a long term project, expect to float a lot.

    Advice to Management

Try to more clearly define workload for interns; it is difficult when low tide leaves little for them to do for a week at a time. Otherwise, your kindness, flexibility, and teaching is admirable and I could ask nothing more.

I worked at Black & Veatch for more than a year

    Pros

Location in the Denver Tech Center is great. The building is well kept. Schedule is flexible and have recently started allowing the 9/80s.

    Cons

Poor Management leads to lots of turnover in telecommunications division. There are no team building outings. Very cooperate oriented and had an "everyone is replaceable" attitude.

I worked at Black & Veatch full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexibility with schedule , decent pay, and great office location.

    Cons

This was the most toxic work environment of my career. If your looking for competent, fair, and respectful management do not work here. If you are looking for fair, measured, and understandable promotion structure do not come here. If you are looking for a coffee stir straw, tea, or basic appliances in the break room dont come here. If you are trying to advance your career, feel appreciated, or be treated equally do not come here. This place is a nightmare and am relevied I was able to leave. If you are looking for work stay away from this place. This business is competitive and you will find something much better.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of toxic project managers that are angry, hostile, disrespectful, and threatening. They are a liability to the direction the company is trying to take and the word is spreading B&V is the last place you want to work.

I worked at Black & Veatch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Laid back environment. Jeans are allowed M-F. The pay is decent compared to other companies in the area. Good health insurance and 401k.

    Cons

Not all teams or supervisors follow company policies leading to employees receiving different treatment. There's the clique that rules the office. Much like high school. They team up to push promotions for those who can barely press a button on a keyboard. They will team up for employee recognition. In other words, it's the good boy club. It's all about who you know. They will promote just to not lose an employee. Hard working employees are not recognized. Why? Not part of the club. HIGH TURN OVER! at least 25% turnover in one years' time. Too many supervisors and no singular person in charge. This leads to different treatment between employees.

    Advice to Management

Look at the hands in charge in Denver. New office manager is nice and respectful but he's not really the one in charge. HR, leads, and PMs should be look into. Official management training from outside sources. Recognize your employees and take an active roll in their development. Provide training. And spend a penny on your employees. An office that will not even spend money on flavored tea....??? Really? Employees buy their own small appliances? Really? Hidden supplies? Really?
