I've worked many places, I like it here

    Pros

BV "walks the talk" on work-life balance and DEI more than any place I've ever worked. Good overall compensation package. Doing a good job planning and positioning for the changing world. Did well adapting during COVID, many jobs are now permanently work-from-home.

    Cons

Career advancement can suffer somewhat if you're not at headquarters location. "Face time" and who you know still counts for a lot. Career opportunities very dependent on your manager and their managers pulling for you. Just applying for posted openings seems to be a waste of time. While starting salaries are decent, annual increases don't seem to keep up, even when the company and your division are doing well.

Tech leadership is a complete joke

    Pros

The work is easy, slow-moving, and over-delegated, so if you want a job to coast along without having to do any real work, this might be a good place for you.

    Cons

Misinformed and misguided leadership has obliterated the company's posture on delivery of resilient and secure technology; Chris Murphy (CTO) outright rejects SOC and ISO compliance saying they are "not part of a security-first culture" which is objectively nonsensical. Aside from demonstrating his total lack of understanding of what security is and what mechanisms govern the resulting compliance, he is insistent on speaking over his subordinates in public-facing meetings even when he is digging his own metaphorical hole deeper. Having just done this again today, I am starting to see this as a trend within leadership of this company.
