I worked at Black & Veatch full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stable dependable business. Operations does not change significantly. Good training for engineers. Opportunity for exciting projects and travel. Being to incorporate better workplace environment

    Cons

If you are looking for engaging, fast paced challenges with an opportunity to move up quickly, this is probably not the company for you. Working with contractors and construction personnel can be extremely difficult and hostile. Easy to get stuck in your own bubble

    Advice to Management

Changing the work place was a great change that was long over due. Better autonomy between divisions is needed. The company tends to run as 5 different business with groups seldom sharing resources or responsibility

I have been working at Black & Veatch full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Top two Pros would be Steady flow of projects and Very competitive compensation. It is an Ethical company which will make you feel proud of. Its a worldwide establishment so it helps to keep your opportunities open if that is what you are looking for.

    Cons

Only Cons that I can see is that the Career progression is limited. Many employees have to work on same level for years without promotion, and the reason could be because the client project that the employee works on does not have that requirement of the promoted level. Also, there is limited work-life balance, especially if you are aiming for the career progression.

    Advice to Management

Employees will like to get performance based career progression. That would be a great morale boost, knowing that they are being rewarded for their extra effort and as always long hours.

I worked at Black & Veatch full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Talented professionals to work with
    - The top management seems to really know what they are doing. I especially felt this way when Karen Daniel (CFO) came to our satellite office to speak.
    - Really good opportunities available depending on projects that B&V wins

    Cons

    - There had been increasing "corporate fluff" programs since I had been working there. I realize their just trying to get employees to be more engaged, but I personally saw it as adistraction
